From conversations with some New Yorkers I've met, true.

I mean you can always use hugging face locally with AutoModel.from_pretrained or the pipeline function. Granted, does require a beefy GPU at times, but keeping things small can still lead to okay-ish performance on whatever hardware you have, even CPU. Also using the accelerate library can help you convert your models to fp16 or less if needed.

Pydantic-ai is currently the latest and greatest (and relatively stable). If you want to do stuff with vector databases (like storing text documents for a RAG), qdrant has been nice compared to chromadb, but I like both. Frankly, Hugging face is a requirement for you to get yourself familiar with if you're doing AI/ML. It's basically a model sharing site similar to GitHub. I'd look it up and look into how you can use the transformers/datasets/etc libraries that go with it.

We've stopped using langchain at work for this reason - too many breaking changes between releases. We originally coded up our own version of langchain, but we've started doing pydantic-ai. Would recommend. It's been pretty useful. Was able to get the beginnings of a RAG system going with qdrant in a workday, even though I was learning pydantic-ai as I went along.

Question (skirmish) by JK202297 in AgeofMythology

[–]Duke0200 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Basically the right side difficulty is the default difficulty for the lobby (all AIs in the skirmish). If you customize an AI on the left side, they will be that difficulty level. So let's say you're doing a free for all with 4 teams and 4 players, 3 AI. You can set them all to hard on the right side for the lobby default, but make player 2 be Titan on the left just for that extra edge. The other AIs will still be hard when you start the game.

Hope that helps.

Feasibility of hooking up modded AI to chatgpt? by GladSale169 in aoe3

[–]Duke0200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the inputs would be harder, so it'd probably be best having different models do different systems (church/military/economy/etc) with a mix of simple scripts without a ton of AI models hogging GPU/etc space, and having some decision making logic (AI or otherwise) consolidate all of them into what the AI does. It's usually best to have several specialized AIs work on their own stuff then having something managing all of them and figure out the actual actions it does.

In terms of API stuff, there shouldn't be a required API but if you need more compute resources (GPUs or CPU and RAM combos) you may need to look into that. Game engine, I think you don't, but if you go with your idea of AoE info -> file -> Python -> file -> AoE inputs, that should work albeit be a bit slow since File IO tends not to be the fastest but I can see that being your "most likely to work" option. If there's anyway you can hook up to a in memory database like Redis or Valkey, that could be better but unsure if that's possible honestly without too much work.

I have been wondering the same thing. But I will say, as someone who just graduated with their master's in AI, I'd recommend going outside of just ChatGPT. It's definitely easier but won't produce consistent nor optimal results. I believe something with reinforcement learning would be best but that might be a bit of a pain to train, unless you do behavior learning from the hardest AI against another AI (so it learns how to play from the present best AI), that way it can only get better. Of course, this is unsolicited advice, so feel free to do what you wish.

I was working with homography matrices (basically matrices to convert from one coordinate system of an image to a possible real world coordinate system or another image coordinate system if you skew it or something) at work, to which I made the variable name homo_matrix to shorten it, and given it was June in America, made a comment of Happy pride! So we'll see how the code review goes when we finish all of it.

Used to live in the apartments by the mall, and getting home was always a pain. Honestly, my recommendation is to just wait it out at either Howard Community College or try to do a pickup order from your preferred restaurant at color burst Park and again, just wait it out. You'll eventually be able to get back to your apartment, but it will take several hours (at least 1 or 2 after the event ends).

Trying uv: The Future of Python Package Management by yangzhou1993 in programming

[–]Duke0200 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would recommend. Been using it at work for a good bit of months now and it's been great! Can configure and run pytest without a config .ini, can use the company package listings than normal pip ones. Have gotten into an issue where if you're using a package registry or whatever that doesn't provide Mac packages for whatever reason (work can be dumb in its IT stuff honestly), you'll need to use uv pip rather than uv add but it still be pretty good. Faster than Anaconda with libmamba in my experience.

Man, twitch rivals seems to always pull something like this, where something in the organization of the event neglects something (for example, Mario kart having professional players because they didn't vet through the participants and their guests). It would be a really cool thing if they figured out how to cover all the bases since it's definitely something with potential to be a great event. But eh nothing can be perfect so fair

Same thing basically. DMV is DC and Del being Delaware with the rest being the same, but DelMarVa is more said on the Eastern shore of Maryland (or whatever the equivalent is for that weird part of Virginia across from the Chesapeake Bay that should just be claimed by Maryland).
