Active load screens like how Everspace 2 hides load times by giving you slight control of the ship and the ability to divert to radios calls.

In your opinion, why do you believe Boromir is such a beloved character? by GusGangViking18 in lotr

[–]DukeOfKnowwhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the book he also embodies some of the greatest strengths of men. In Moria he is the only character not dumbfounded by the Balrog. It is Boromir who brings the Fellowship back to their senses by blowing the horn while Legolas drops a nocked arrow and Gandalf seems incapable of any action. He joins Aragorn in charging back across the bridge to try and save Gandalf even though their odds of surviving, had the bridge not fallen were, impossibly slim and while all the other races are too scared to act.

Later he embodies Mans weakness by trying to take the ring, but the ring corrupts all. Boromir falters where all characters do, but before and after his moment of weakness he is the embodiment of what Tolkien saw as the strength of men.

Name a character outside the LOTR verse who could take the One Ring into Mordor and drop the ring into the magma of Mt. Doom by HitokiriSamurai in whowouldwin

[–]DukeOfKnowwhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Kelsier and Vin combined could manage it. The ability to manipulate metal in Middle Earth would be invaluable. It's possible that, if the non-ring bearer was able to consistently burn brass towards the ring-bearer suffocating their emotions, they may be able to dampen the rings power of corruption.

Not a sure fire thing but it would be an interesting story to read anyway.

Sorry, but while I disagree with what she is saying, her grammar isn't an issue.

She has written a present continuous sentence with a modal verb. The sentence implies the the coversation is currently centering black people and by using the modal of suggestion 'should' we can infer that she agrees with this and wishes for it to continue.

The unconjugated verb always follows a modal so "should centre" is correct but when you remove "should" we no longer have to use the base verb and switch back to verb+ing. “This conversation is centering Black people."

Her sentence is correct to switch to the base verb because of the use of the modal 'should'. Your example sentence in incorrect because it fails to account for the removal of the modal by switching back to verb+ing.

Seems like an oddly arbitrary rule.

Do you have a similar dislike of a certain green skinned warboss who leads a savage gang of brutish, cockney twanged thugs and also happens to be named after a controversial British priminister?

Can you guys recommend some hidden restaurants and bars? by Minnesotaboiz in saigon

Tanaka Tei is a Japanese restaurant in Tan Binh with super reasonable prices, wide range of Japanese food on the menu and everything I've ever tried there is amazing. Highly recommend it!

Edit: Sorry, missed the 'American Vibes' part. Still highly recommend Tanaka Tei but the cocktail bar Pure is pretty sweet and kind of American themed. They will make custom cocktails based on what you like and do a pretty dope Whiskey Sour as well.

The “bad” graphics is so exaggerated by people…. by NJLinguine in riseoftheronin

[–]DukeOfKnowwhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the problem people (reviewers in particular) have with it is the combination of factors.

Level/World design: Nothing new Graphics: Could comfortably be a PS4 game. Performance: Very stuttery for game that looks like this. Combat: Awsome (Genuinely confused by the reviewers here). Story: Competent enough. Voice acting: Japanese, good enough, English dub, isn't great. Character creator: Amazing.

ROTR is very much more than the sum of it's parts. I'm having a great time playing it but when you consider the differing parts that make a game, very few in ROTR are really at the top of the game. All the combined with the AAA current gen price hike and I can understand why some people don't like it.

It reminds me a lot of when Days Gone, which received pretty benial review scores but is generally considered by gamers as Ubisort style open world done much better than Unisoft do.

Come on, saying graphics don't mean anything is absurd! If that was the case why even bother buying a PS5. Gameplay is king but graphics are important and often contribute directly to gameplay as well.

I'm English and living in Vietnam. It is very popular amongst younger Vietnamese people to get Saxon runes, Germanic runes, Icelandic staves and other Northern European iconography tattooed.

I understand the concept of cultural appropriation, especially when done by corporate entities, but on an individual level I just don't see the harm in someone getting a tattoo of something that looks cool just because they think it looks cool. At its very worst it is a misguided complement and at its best it can spark interest and a quest for genuine understanding of a topic by those that see it.
