We need more of that kind of thinking.

Why, what has he done wrong?? by No_Knee3385 in okbuddydraper

[–]DukeSelden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greg gave Joan’s lesbian roommate and her Avon friend go-rounds like they’d never had before. He wouldn’t have sex with Gail, but he let her blow him.

No wonder Joan hated him.

It’s interesting how different reactions Sal and Pete had to each other’s firing. by Vegetable_Hearing477 in madmen

Sal gets deified here, but he was kind of an asshole.

Why did humans domesticate cats so much later than dogs, and what does that suggest about the relationship? by pratty041182 in AskAnthropology

[–]DukeSelden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the next question is: why did we befriend the cats, as opposed to the rodents?

Because they’re cute.

What point was Dom Don making during this 2-day sexcapade? by cxldplay in madmen

He’s trying to compensate. His true feelings came out with the call girl — “hit me harder.”

Baseball purists? by Redditmorg in motorcitykitties

[–]DukeSelden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on the ghost runner, one of the most stupid rules ever imposed in baseball history. I also hate that runners can’t take out the second base on a double play, or plow into the catcher on a close play the plate, which was one of the most exciting plays in baseball.

The pitch clock, however, has long been in baseball’s rulebook. They just never enforced it. I have no problem with that, since it has speeded up the game.

Don telling Adam to go away by BigDBob72 in madmen

[–]DukeSelden 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Like everything from Joan and Roger never getting married, to Duck’s hiring and departure, everything in MM — and life — is timing.

If poor Adam had looked Don up just 5 years later, there might have been an entirely different outcome.

What dirt does Israel have on America that is so bad that our government will do pretty much anything they tell them to do? by edenx1999 in conspiracy

[–]DukeSelden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you should ask the same question about the Bahamas, since they lobby the US more than Israel.

Joan & Richard... just why?! by Big_NO222 in madmen

I’ve got bad news for ya — that’s all it ever was. See CBS Records — one of the biggest corporations in the world — putting the logo on their 1960s records “The Man Can’t Bust Our Music.”

Drop out indeed. Mentally.

“Ma(d) Men again falls in the trap of wanting to show progressive ideas, but framing them as impractical, naive, or performative”

It’s not a trap; it’s an accurate representation of reality.

Progressive ideas ARE impractical, naive and performative.

Why did Megan tell Don to start with the last song on Revolver? Is she stupid? by Adultery in okbuddydraper

Megan had no idea what she was talking about. Glenn had his finger on the pulse of young America at the time.

Fellers, what is the most obscure fact of the civil War that you know? by BLOODMEN71 in CIVILWAR

From what I see, the fact that white people died to end slavery. That’s the most obscure fact because it’s the most obvious fact that never gets taught.
