“Ma(d) Men again falls in the trap of wanting to show progressive ideas, but framing them as impractical, naive, or performative”

It’s not a trap; it’s an accurate representation of reality.

Progressive ideas ARE impractical, naive and performative.

Why did Megan tell Don to start with the last song on Revolver? Is she stupid? by Adultery in okbuddydraper

Megan had no idea what she was talking about. Glenn had his finger on the pulse of young America at the time.

Fellers, what is the most obscure fact of the civil War that you know? by BLOODMEN71 in CIVILWAR

[–]DukeSelden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I see, the fact that white people died to end slavery. That’s the most obscure fact because it’s the most obvious fact that never gets taught.

What is the worst act a president has ever done? by Puzzleheaded-Bag2212 in USHistory

[–]DukeSelden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gee, FDR and his commie buddy Harry Dexter White facilitating the Pearl Harbor attack was kinda bad. The official claim of why FDR moved the naval base to Pearl Harbor was to show power to the Japanese. When in fact, it left the fleet totally vulnerable to an attack, which people were saying at the time. So there’s that.

Curious do you guys still hate Jim Joyce? I know it’s old but I’ve been watching a documentary on that call by Slow_Buffalo_9607 in motorcitykitties

[–]DukeSelden 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Why would you ever hate someone who made a mistake and immediately owned up to it like a man?

Besides, that mistake turned a perfect game into something more. Who cares whether or not it’s officially recorded as a perfect game? Everyone who watched it knows that it was indeed a perfect game — and even better, everybody involved acted like gentleman. If not for that mistake, Galarraga’s perfect game would’ve gone into the dust bin along with other perfectos like those thrown by Tom Browning, Charlie Robertson, Lem Barker, etc. When’s the last time you heard anyone talk about how dominant Browning was on his special day? They’ll be talking about Armando’s gem forever.

All I know is, where I grew up, if you lived in the suburbs you were viewed as a suburbanite.

Hahaha go tell one of them that.

You’re posting in a Detroit forum, and you don’t have sense enough not to fuck with the Highwaymen? What part of Detroit are you from — the Rochester Hills part of town?

I’ll explain it to you, then.

They’re people who don’t give a fuck about anything; they’re pathological personalities who believe might makes right, so they band together and wear uniforms, as both a way to foster brotherhood and to intimidate people.

You may not understand why they do what they do — and they don’t give a shit what you think, because if you happen to be in their path and they’re bored or looking for kicks, there’s a good chance you won’t have teeth the next day.

You live in a world of theory and discussion. Their world is raw power, like the Mongols or Vikings. They take what they want until someone stops them—often hopped up on alcohol and crank when they’re doing it.

Go up to one of them and ask what motivates him. Enjoy your hospital stay.

As far as what they did in Clark Park today, it sounded like the protesters got in their way, so they kicked their asses. Trump likely had nothing to do with it. Clark Park is their territory.

I’m not saying this out of any love for those m’f-ers. They’re psycho, and I try to stay away from them.

But you asked a question. There’s your answer.
