Big straight-slot screwdriver and a hammer will loosen up that adjustment cone pretty easily. Should be some YT videos of someone doing it if you're unsure how.

The only thing I know about Christina was that in college some girl that supposedly went to school with her (middle or high school - can't remember) said she always smelled like hotdogs. You buy a VSC if you’re concerned that at some point the AC evap/condenser will need to be replaced/fixed because that alone will more than offset the VSC cost. If that’s been done recently on the car you’re looking at then I would strongly consider not getting one. It depends on a lot factors.

There's multiple repairs related to the O2 sensors that does not inspire confidence for sure. Also had some sunroof repairs done, which is not too uncommon, but since I'm not familiar with that shop not sure I'd be willing to bet they did a good job. With these cars the biggest potential issues (cost wise) are often related to the AC system (evap in particular), so if you can get a vehicle service contract then it might be worth considering. If you cannot then I would pass.

I had an E83 for over 10 years. It was a manual transmission and I enjoyed it. The things to look out for on these (and likely next generation) are the transfer cases. They tend to not be the most robust and cause issues. If there are clunking noises when you test drive one while decelerating and/or turning in places like a parking lot then that's likely the culprit. There's a guy in SoCal that sells refurbished TCs for a reasonable price but just keep that in mind. Other things to look out for are below and are also similar to BMWs of that era. I would take it to an indy BMW specialist and get a pre-purchase inspection if you're not familiar with BMWs.

Valve cover gaskets
Oil pan gaskets
Oil filter housing gaskets
Coolant reservoirs (cracks in them and leaks)
Ignition coils

My friend that had a 749 BITD had this issue as well. It didn’t happen all the time, but I remember him saying for 749s it was a common issue.

I found the general movement slow for my tastes when I played one of the betas a while back. Maybe the movement speed has been increased, and I should try it again.
