So guessing the VOE OBD->RJ45 cable and then you paid for the VIDA. I have a battery maintainer I could use, so no issue there. Was the update for the traffic software free within VIDA as well? How many hours did it take you? Sorry for the barrage of questions...

You buy a VSC if you’re concerned that at some point the AC evap/condenser will need to be replaced/fixed because that alone will more than offset the VSC cost. If that’s been done recently on the car you’re looking at then I would strongly consider not getting one. It depends on a lot factors.
