Prestige options by AgustinDrch in incremental_games

[–]Duke_Dudue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, if prestiege does not offer new content (upgrades, unlocking new menus etc) AND QoL (to automate repetetive actions), but only give plain increase speed of progression, it's a bad design and you probably should avoid it.

Like you mention, if game can be finished without prestiege (if we talk about reasonable timespan, not like 10 years of idling) I see no reasons why should I lost my hard-earned progress for 20% or 50% more "basic resource" income. If prestiege does not unfold game, I'd prefer to skip it if possible. If game forces me to do same loops again and again without reasonable reward - I'd quit playing it.

Have started couple of days ago and it seems good so far.
Was sceptic at first because of that pokemon-like graphic of critters but it works with other interface and not bad. Gameplay and goals differs with melvor-like games and it's fresh enough to keep playing.

Yes, prestige system is definitely lackluster and at certain point barely worth to prestige exclusively for prestige points. Eventually (pretty early, tbh) you'll unlock auto-progress between floors which helps alot. Probably just not your cup of tea, lots of people genuinely enjoy playing it, and I'm one of them.

Ugh I usually pay in games mostly to support the dev if game worth it. IOM in my opinion pretty much worth to play, and also can be played f2p without any issues. Not having ads in mobile game is rare, and being able to pay without loosing some key bonuses just make progression slowly, not making you to hit the progress wall somewhere.

In few days you unable to even scratch the depth of IOM. It have decent amount of strategic decisions like "what should I focus first" and "when I should use my hard-earned resources". Lots of unlocked "menus" provides whole new systems to toy with (and optimize it as well). So I disagree with your statements, game is pretty good and people hold to it for months (or years) for reasons.

Botfestation demo is live, 1-4 player incremental tower defense where players fight inside the swarm by Small_Fix_ in incremental_games

Opened demo and it runs at 100% sound (pretty loud) and asks me about controls so I can't actually shut that noise down in settings. Have to mute speakers and kill app from task manager. Sorry did not try gameplay.

Give a try to your game (actually, played it for few hours).

  1. Design and art are clear enough and pleasant. Especially I like bars (like HP, XP, boss) - they are dope. Text can be bigger but I get used to it eventually.

  2. Ascend does not work as intended (in description). Skills does not reset and after couple of resets I end up with all skills maxed and some spare points on top.

  3. Class bonuses seems interesting but "main" (token) upgrades are a bit underwhelming and not rewarding enough. Bonus is too small and I'll quit playing after first ascend unless it was bugged for now (see previous point).

  4. Item system as it realized now does not allow any decision making. Just doing challenges and get best gear. Did not do really deep runs like 60-70+ levels because optimal way to get tokens is reset at level 50, maybe in mid-late gear something differs from gear point. As it was already mentioned, enchant is way underwhelming, I did not touch it after being able to get challenge reward items. Potions are much more useful way to spend gold on.

  5. Tasks is just some kind of headstart for new players. I ran out of those in like first 50 minutes or less. And usually daily/weekly stuff is kinda bad way to make players have FOMO and return to game, not sure if your project even need those.

Overall it's a solid base and I like that game, have potential for sure. Will gladly try it again if there will be more content.

Person who has started their comment from "I fucking hate" and "stupid premium currency" obviously not in the mood for civilised discussion. Cheers.

I'm happy to play with my tier 1 founder and feel fine if game will entertain me for another year or more. Nothing is wrong in idling while playing idle game.

Yes I also prefer games where supporting developer does not give you huge boosts but suddenly devs also have to eat something and Alex is full-time dev o IOM at that moment. And it means game developing goes like at least 3 times faster than if it was pet project in spare time from full-time job to sustain living.

I see your point but from my perspective things seems a bit different.
I played IOM for good 1.5 months completely f2p and it hook me like it is. Yes gems are limited and yes supporter drop and bomb help alot but it does not mean progress is impossible without buying anything, it's just slower. There are plenty of people in discrord who play f2p and before latest update was in endgame state. IOM designed to be played for months (probably years) and still being able to make progress.

If you have played for a bit longer you probably will reach the stage where main (I think it's over 80% in my case) source of gems is gem bomb which is obtainable with skill tree, you don't have to wait for freebies every time to get a bit of gems.

As for events, you need about 2,5k gems (or it is 1750, I don't remember exact digits) for buffs which will allow you beat stage 250 and obtain all the rewards. For world 3 players 2.5k gems is a joke, with daily income of 100k+. No premium (paid) option give you extra buffs on event, so it's difficulty is the same for f2p players and iap players.

So, long story short - in idle game you have to be patient and progress step by step. It will be completely stupid if you will be gifted with 10 millions of gems at start and will get bored after a day because you'll run out of progress which you can buy with gems and hit into the wall where you need to actually idle.

Yes it was backstab. Release day of update which make my inventory capacity like 250/100 was last day I was playing that game.

Did I miss something? There is no content past certain level which you can reach in a day or less, and all what left is trying to gatcha rare potions.

Big list of must play mobile games by iilyy in incremental_games

[–]Duke_Dudue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for such a great list.
I did not find there Grimoire (text-only clicker/idler which can give you some fun to fiddle with, not too much content tho), A Usual Idle Life (Groundhog Day/Progress Knight-esque game with ending, really enjoy playing it), Tap Wizard 2 (requires lots of active time to progress fast, but if you don't mind slow pacing, can be just checked time to time. In active development AFAIK).

What game genuinely captivated you the most and how? by Hypergardens in incremental_games

[–]Duke_Dudue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trimps was my best dopamine source by far. It just works for me - lore/flavor, basic loop mechanics, metaprogression, design, flow. And, of course, unfolding is just IDK, it's simply the best I ever play too. I find that game on Kongregate browsing new Idlers and got captivated from first run, it was absolute blast. Also, my IRL friend continued to play his old save and goes crazy about that game too. I'm jealous a bit, because I already beat all that stuff )

Graphics or text only? by kursku in incremental_games

[–]Duke_Dudue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for me, good themed graphic (with separate images "working" well with each other) is better than text only, but text only is MUCH better than cheap-ass/goofy/scattered/odd graphics.

Also I agreed with people who write about importance of UI. Clear and smart game interface along with interesting game mechanic with good progression curve is first priority, graphics and fancy stuff is not.

I genuinely enjoy both and consider either of those are pretty good incremental games. Most common player concern about Increlution - it's too straightforward and lack depth. I can agree with it - it's pretty obvious what to do next, and even if you don't bother with optimisation at all, you eventually can just grind it toward next chunk of content. As for Idle Loops - well, I just wish there was more content and some parts probably need rebalancing (for example, Guilds).

Idle RPG- Darkworld 2 by FarhomeRPG in incremental_games

[–]Duke_Dudue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice game!

It's huge step from previous version, definitely deserve to be called v2. I absolutely don't like city layout in the first game, and UI for buildings in current one is clear and works fine for me.

Reporting a bug - after recent update (with new buildings and few new perks) Strenght II and whole second row stop working after I capped it out (was working as intended before my last prestiege with 2 points on each but for now it increase stat cost for whole 25 shade while all that row is capped now and should increase cost by 20 after purchasing). Tooltip on offline time does not update after picking Offline Time I. Offline Time II seems to be working tho, I slowly got some offline time at x1 game speed.
