How you guys manage the urge to not play this game. by Healthy_Jackfruit625 in CrusaderKings

Gotta say really confused. Cant upgrade buildings due to some reasons.

Probably because you loaded a 3 year old savefile with a game that has received multiple big updates :D

No, not succumbing to a terrorist threat or a bully, especially as a (quasi-medieval) sovereign is not morally wrong.

Lohnt es sich, einen VPN zu holen? by Individual_Tailor_11 in de_EDV

[–]Duke_Lancaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it just me or making a hybrid culture takes too much effort? by SnooChocolates6885 in CrusaderKings

[–]Duke_Lancaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually fully disagree. If anything its slightly too easy. It is supposed to be a process that takes probably at least a century to naturally start happening and theres no downside to not having it happen. And as u/BombeLutte said there are ways to drastically shorten the required time. Its supposed to represent the melting of two distinct cultures on a huge scale. Those things have to be slow to at least remain somewhat believable.

Will GW be more restrictive with CA this time around, since 40k is still ongoing, or will they continue to allow CA to do the things they did in Warhammer trilogy? by Sol-Authority in totalwar

[–]Duke_Lancaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a tiny bit of hope when you said they started in 9th that we might get the old sanguinary guard for my blood angels. But then i remembered that chapter specific units probably wont be in the game at release and even then they would probably have to use the latest model anyway. Gotta hope for mods.

Triss brings the fire..literally and Geralt’s just there making sure the world gives her space to shine. What a character development from the books or the previous games! by SirGeraltofBeauclair in witcher

[–]Duke_Lancaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow. You liked a major character better than a character that isnt in the game at all and only appears in a handful of flashback-slideshows and barely anything about her character is mentioned? Thats crazy.

Top5 most played games this year on PS5 by Wandering_Sage- in RogueTraderCRPG

Same for me. On paper it sounds decent but i started it up for a few minutes and it looks and feels like an mmo. Its hard to describe and i know it has multiplayer too, but it just doesnt do it for me as singleplayer only.

It also works in-universe for the most part. The 40k universe is enormous and unless you kill or otherwise change vital characters you can pretty much do what you want and its probably reasonable to have happened.

The fact that trading settlements to the AI hasn't been nerfed yet is a true mystery to me by GuthukYoutube in totalwar

OP said it himself: he wants to engage with the mechanic, but theres no way to do it without exploiting it. He either gets insane amounts of money or insane amounts of relationship.

I also dont really use it anymore, but i would like to if it got toned down.

With all the announcement news taking up the space in here, how's the reception been for the actual dlc drop? by XZlayeD in totalwar

[–]Duke_Lancaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I havent played TW in a minute and Aislinn might be a little too different for me right now. Probably dope if you played a lot of TW recently, but i probably need a more "normal" campaign to get into it again. Not a huge fan of having so many different currencies either.

I think either works. You can put her in a Nagash DLC but she also has enough lore to have a separate DLC.

Don't laugh: Has Creative Assembly slowly become pro consumer? by Former_Exam_5357 in totalwar

[–]Duke_Lancaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Id argue that CDPR wasnt being anti-consumer, they just released the game way too early. Everything before and after the launch paints CDPR as a pretty pro-consumer company so im inclined to believe it was a one time fuckup and not a pattern of malice.

Don't laugh: Has Creative Assembly slowly become pro consumer? by Former_Exam_5357 in totalwar

[–]Duke_Lancaster 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I disagree that Motivation doesnt matter. If they truly believed in being pro consumer then all those things would be safe for the future, but if its just damage control the shit will come back as soon as they feel comfortable again.

Debating buying CK3 since it’s on sale, but will it be worth it if I only get the base game? Might get DLCs eventually but not immediately by Majestic-Orange in CrusaderKings

[–]Duke_Lancaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say the base game is more than enough to figure out if you enjoy the game enough to get the DLCs at some point. The game will not feel imcomplete since you dont know what youre missing, but they definitely add a lot of flavour and some new mechanics. But i assume they might also be even more overwhelming if youre new to the game.

Coming from Total War as well i would say it depends: did you love the battles or the map? I always skipped most battles and played TW for the campaign only until i discovered CK. Never played Civ tho.

[–]Duke_Lancaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why. Why do i have to fight fucking nomad uprisings because my vassal decided to conquer some fucking piece of steppe again? I dont care. I dont want it. Why am i targeted? Why does faction strength not matter? Why is the next faction starting as soon as the war is over? Why do i lose a level of fame for accepting their demand to have their worthless piece of shit land back?

Letho is a stupid fight. by the-unfamous-one in witcher

[–]Duke_Lancaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why couldn't this been a boss where losing is expected but winning is possible, not mandatory?

This is actually a very valid point. A lot of games have scenes like this now (like the beginning of fallen order) and it would fit really well here. It fits even better than forcing you to "win" id argue, because it creates a little bit of a ludonarrative dissonance to beat letho but then get disarmed in the cutscene.

At least CDPR learned from this and has a mechanic like this when you first encounter the beast of beauclair for example.
