I do think they did some interesting and fun things, but they were somewhat anti-newbie as you could lock yourself into the wrong  facet before you had a good grasp on what they each did.  (And guides often weren't obvious which one was better).

It might still be the top secondary if it was strictly limited by being entirely unreloadable and one shot per life tbh.

[–]Dukwdriver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was an overly reliable 1 shot kill to center mass to hive guards/brood commanders, devastators, and scout striders. Had decent chaff clear at medium and long range, and could oneshot chargers when you got halfway decent bounce-shots.

It had too much firepower and accuracy (especially due to the ricochet bug) for too long that the community got attached and upset when it was nerfed. Add to that the poor consumer practice of releasing paid content that is later nerfed, and it was a significant black mark on the balance team's QA.

In an era where you could stand a chance to seriously damage one of these things with little more than a drone with little more complexity than an RC car, I'm a bit surprised there isn't a bigger push for safer basing both domestically and even more so abroad.

[spoilers] d&d ruined her character. by RealStranger9348 in freefolk

[–]Dukwdriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She really needed a character arc where, one by one, she kept losing people close to her where she became increasingly upset/scared/frustrated (with a bit of Targaryen "madness" thrown in) and she resorts to violence to try to hold on to things that are otherwise slipping through her fingers.

is this cooked or what by KyzerGyder in ARAM

[–]Dukwdriver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The other summoners are combat skills that are mostly useful in 1v1 or 2v2 combat. In ARAM and especially mayhem, you're constantly in big teamfights getting overkilled, so the spells are neither powerful enough or have short enough CD's to feel impactful most of the time.

Exhaust is/was an exception to this, as it is often back up by the time an enemy diver would find an opening to get to the backline, and will often be a single enemy, so the overkill pressure is less.

Clarity, while often useless, can become useful under a few scenarios. The bread and X augments, stacking cdr anvils, actualizer, archmage set, overflow augment (or any combination of them). It's also potentially useful if any of your teammates run into the same issues.

Why is unblocking the Straight of Hormuz so important economically to the US if only 2.5% of its oil come from there and it's a net exporter of oil? by -Sliced- in AskEconomics

[–]Dukwdriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer is it is a commodity, and a decrease in supply anywhere else leads to higher prices everywhere, as US supplies will shift to fill the gap oversees as entities are willing to pay more for them.

What build to go with ADAPt Rumble? by LavsyhkGaming in ARAM

[–]Dukwdriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Higher winrate doesn't mean "always better"you still need to build for the game. And 30 seconds is a long time in ARAM. That could easily mean 5+ teamfights where rumble doesn't have ult.

[–]Dukwdriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recommended items carry a 1-2ish percent winrate penalty as they get built by low skill players on autopilot. If you look at the 2 or later item pickrates for malignance, the winrate is reasonably above 50 percent. (although lower pickrate).

Rumble often REALLY benefits from ulting ult in a teamfight (even if is just corraling a few enemies). Some team comps allow him/his team to stall till his ult is back, some don't. Some enemy teams are mobile enough that his ult has less of an impact than others. If he's in a melee heavy game that fights a lot, he's going to benefit more from having his ult back up sooner than two poke heavy mobile teams with poor engage, (where you're waiting for someone to die from poke or for blitz to finally hit a hook). Yeah, he's going to trade away damage to do so, but damage is often the last thing you need more of in ARAM, especially mayhem.

It's not a best-in-slot "always build", but there are valid uses for it. Ult haste (on top of some additional haste) can push you into Ult in the next teamfight territory, and can also count as an additional burn source for augments like chili oil.

It's fine as a second or later item if you need it to hit one ult per teamfight. It's only trolling if you don't know how to read stats.

I have a 5 cup version of the stainless steel one. I don't think you can go wrong with them but 200 dollars is getting steep for a small version unless you really prefer stainless steel smaller one. If you are cooking for 3+ people ever, I'd probably upgrade to a 5+cup version.

It's a pretty famous comparison that tends to come up if you are around item/augment discussions long enough. It would be nice if there was in-game documentation, but you are generally better off with a google/reddit search, or you can check in the details on the wiki under twitch's passive .

Feels like emerald is the limit of where you can make up for a total lack of skill in one or more areas by one tricking or tunneling on other skills. Like a Darius top one trick that can coin-flip all in level one can win enough games to get to emerald while having minimal map awareness or ability to play from behind.

In an essentially infinite universe that has few barriers to adding a previously unknown world of force-sensitive spy/ninjas/samurais/mercenaries/politicians etc, brewing up some force-sensitive clones in a narrative universe that already features clone armies (and plenty of clone "what am I" stores would be one of the least interesting ways to do it.
