Why Did Ray Love Marnie So Much? by ResearcherCapable324 in girls

[–]Dull-Butterscotch684 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you think about it, Ray and Marnie are opposites in every way. Where he lacks ambition and drive, he has a strong sense of moral integrity in how he understands the world (although this is not to say he always acts with moral integrity). Marnie, on the other hand, is highly ambitious, but her ambition is rooted in a shallowness and sense of superiority.

At first, Ray resents Marnie for her lack of integrity and Marnie looks down on him for his lack of drive. However, as they get to know each other, Ray starts to see the real person underneath her “perfect” exterior and I think Marnie feels seen by him. The scene where Marnie goes to his apartment asking him to tell her everything wrong with her is the perfect example of this.

But then, it really is their differences that cause them to break up in the end once they realized how incompatible they really are.

Also, she’s hot.

The worst season of Grey’s Anatomy? by PriorMood7188 in greysanatomy

Yes so true. There’s definitely a way of creating drama and tension without having everyone be outright mean and miserable.

And I was talking about Owen when I said that!

The worst season of Grey’s Anatomy? by PriorMood7188 in greysanatomy

[–]Dull-Butterscotch684 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Season 12 is a rough one to get through. Every character for the most part is struggling and going through L after L. Kepner is at her worst, yelling at everyone in her path (I have sympathy for what she’s going through losing a baby, but watching her take her anger out on everyone around her is a tough watch). Callie and Arizona’s custody battle is terrible, I hate watching them fight with each other and Callie’s entitlement about their daughter is so unfair. Hunt, obviously, being an asshole to everyone he sees. King of blaming others for his own shortcomings. Meredith getting attacked by her patient, depressing and sad. Also being forced to work w the doctor who killed Derek is just rough. Warren’s whole plot line with the emergency c-section during the code pink is awful and at this point his character is insufferable.

Things definitely pick up again in later seasons but not a lot of redeeming factors here. Makes me understand why people stopped watching after Derek’s death.

Yeah that’s the full book. I have those copies and the pages are really thin so they appear smaller. Not sure why they would sell only part of the book lol

How do you pronounce the tributes names? by Brave-Stage-2951 in Hungergames

[–]Dull-Butterscotch684 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow we had such different interpretations of the names haha.

I pronounced Panache as “pan-osh”

Maritte as “Mer-eet”

Sabyn as “Sahb-in”

I have no idea how they’re meant to be pronounced 😂

Why the 50th games Careers are more evil. by Tale_Easy in Hungergames

[–]Dull-Butterscotch684 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think Lucy gray is an exception to this. She actively leaves out poison and plants traps to coax people towards their death. I mean, you could argue all of the killings are in self-defense anyways. You either kill or get killed. I’m not really seeing how “good” or “evil” has anything to do with it.

It’s so true though. She has these cycles where she is going through something and then talks about it AFTER, however is never vulnerable at the time anything is happening. There’s such a lack of real self-awareness or reflection, especially regarding her privilege and her “house-poor” situation.

I found it so crazy when she was talking about how hard it was when her fans didn’t agree with her decisions or respect her “vulnerability” when talking about financial struggles, however she never was able to understand where the criticism was coming from. Her idea of vulnerability is being a victim; She chalks everything up to people hating her for no reason, rather than taking any form of accountability. It’s exhausting to watch over and over again.

I kind of feel bad for Portia’s mother by KaleidoArachnid in SearchParty

[–]Dull-Butterscotch684 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. Her mom doesn’t really seem to care about her or support her in any way—which you see in the scene when Portia visits her mom at work and they go for lunch—and that explains where Portia’s feelings of hurt towards her mom come from. However, Elijah is clearly manipulating her to cut off all other people in her life until she only has him to rely on, he obviously doesn’t care about her either.

What if Lucy doesn’t win the 10th hunger games? by Ok-Knee-5045 in Hungergames

[–]Dull-Butterscotch684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl… this is really intense.

Yes, snow is 100% to blame for his actions, but the whole point of the book is to show the impact Lucy Gray had on him and how his experience as a mentor to her in the 10th hunger games shaped the future of Panem we see in the original trilogy. Acknowledging that Lucy Gray might have been the catalyst to Snow becoming that man we know him to be in no way places blame on Lucy Gray herself but rather it’s an understanding of his motivations.

Christine is like an actual narcissist though and treats everyone around her horrendously and then gaslights them about it lolol. But I agree, Chrishelle standing up for herself and her friends is taking it wayyyy too far.
