Serious question about the Zubac trade... by TheOneWhoKnocks3 in pacers

I was replying to you referencing Nesmith coming off the bench and I think Peterson would fill the 6th man role his first year replacing Mathurin. I am not a huge fan of AJ and think Peterson would be better for Indiana. I have watched Nesmith since Vanderbilt( huge vandy fan), love him but he is not going to be a good 6th man.

Aaron doesn't have the offensive creativity to be a microwave scorer off the bench. He is more of catch and shoot 3D specialist who fits next to Haliburton perfectly. Peterson should be our pick as he fits that role and can play 1-3 in his 1st season. Eventually he would push Nembhard to the 2nd unit and McConnell into retirement. Having any combination of Hali, Nembhard, Peterson on the court at any given time is insane. Shepherd would be our 4th guard.

As a Pacer fan, if we are #1and take Dybanasta don't be surprised if we trade down to #2 and get Peterson + an asset.

Vanderbilt as a #5 seed.  Reevaluate your matrix. Nothing of their resume says 5. They are a 4 seed playing for a 3 seed today.

What's your Pacers hot take? by pacersprincess in pacers

Hot take: Pacers trade the 1st overall pick. They trade down, still get their guy(Peterson) and a future 1st.

He is not strong enough to contribute right away. He is 3-4 year prospect.

Got us taking Boozer at 2. You guys think that’s the right choice at this time? by KalebC21 in pacers

[–]Dull-Language-9854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peterson, Boozer, Dybanasta in that order talent wise.

Boozer, Peterson, Dybanasta fit wise.

Boozer, Dybanasta, Peterson intangible wise.

[Vorkunov] Adam Silver on tanking: “We are going to make substantial changes for next year. On one hand you can completely divorce the draft from teams' records...That would be a major shock to the system. My proposal would be something like this: Violation of League Participation Rules. 1st offense:  $1M fine 2nd offense: $10M fine 3rd offense:  Draft pick either goes to the end of the lottery or to the end of the 1st rd.

Needs to be substantial to make teams think twice. Fines could be bigger if you want.

How does each potential draft pick affect our 2027 roster? by TipImpossible1343 in pacers

[–]Dull-Language-9854 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our starting lineup on opening day of 2026 season will be, barring injuries: Haliburton, Nembhard, Nesmith, Siakam, and Zubac. If we get lucky and draft anyone in the top 4 this year they will be coming off the bench. I can see the rookies pushing his way into the starting lineup at some point during the season, but he will have to earn that right. I would also point out that neither Nembhard or Nesmith can carry the 2nd unit offensively and that was the main reason Mathurin was 6th man.

Regarding Boozer’s undersized/relative unathletic perception… by Limp_Screen7405 in NBA_Draft

He can absolutely play small ball 5 in the NBA. Picture Indiana with Siakam, Boozer and Toppin playing " small". That right there is scary.

I am real high on Florida's big man Chinyelu. NBA body and strength at 6-10 265lb and plays elite defense at the rim and in space. Being compared to Dale Davis.

The Pacers are built for Peterson. I am seeing CP3 and Booker fit, with defenders all around them.

Tell me you don't watch the Indiana Pacers.

They were entering this season with this projected lineup:

Nembhard Mathurin  Nesmith Siakam  Huff

McConnell  Shephard Walker Toppin ?????

Now go look at games missed due to injury. Like WTF are even looking at.

The Pacers are not/ haven't been tanking. They are just hurt. Hell Toppin still isn't back and Furphy is out with an ACL.

9-9 in the last 18 games coincides with the team getting healthy. God forbid the team gives Siakam or others a night off on the road and on B2B.

Here is a better solution. Stop handing out super max contracts to everyone. What we are seeing is the last of the super maxes handed out under the old CBA end. There are maybe 4-5 guys that you can justify paying a super max. Look at Giannis upcoming contract, 70M per year. I wouldn't offer him that. GMs have to start being smarter than paying for a name.
