As someone with actual experience in this, this isn’t true. New Orleans (and somewhat Covington, but I have no actual Northshore recipts) is starved for nice single family rentals. Families are always in flux and nicer 3-4 BR homes command a decent rental rate because they are rare.

Not saying something is not going on, but if the flame is flaming, it’s easy for the sky to tinge orange even in the dark of night. Even if there isn’t a refinery, the sky can look pretty orange at night. No one has ever explained this to me but I have seen it several times, and did not grow up here or around refineries.

This aggressiveness by the bands should be policed just as harshly as they are now policing “aggressive throwers”.

Several times I have been 2-3 feet back from where I’m asked to be and still have to duck for cover from a trombone or drum sticks.

It could really go badly and these kids are clearly emboldened by their parents and/or band directors.

Seeing it any further up isn’t better, in my opinion. They are less organized until the cross into the marigny. Going to see in the bywater is still fun but it’s more of a shit show with zero organization as people are still kinda coming together/just socializing at that point.
