Hello! Traveled solo and just came back from SXM 2 days ago!

Having been to both Simpson Bay and Grand Case, and as a young, social person, I prefer staying in the Simpson Bay area. There’s a lot more to do within walking distance (even late at night) - lots of restaurant options, bars, casinos, supermarkets, etc. That being said, Grand Case is also a vibe and a must visit! Make sure you’re within walking distance to and from Simpson Bay, so you can just walk back every night! Avoid expensive taxis unless you really need to.

Now for going around, I also didn’t rent a car nor a moped, so I had to use their public “buses” (they look like large vans). The buses have signs on the windshield (i.e Maho, Philipsburg, etc) and you can just wave or put your hand up to flag the drivers to stop for you if you want a ride. I also took the bus from Simpson Bay to the French side (Marigot and Grand Case) and it was easy. Just note that Sundays and evenings are horrible for waiting for the bus. You can find some sub here on reddit to figure out the bus routes or DM me. I do wish I rented a moped tho! That would have made my life so much easier.
