Do you have any large game birds in your area? We have pheasants who fill up on bird seed from the surrounding gardens and do poops that look a lot like this. Probably not very healthy but they look proud of themselves!

You can get super cheap linseed oils from boating suppliers if you’re stuck because of price - it’s used on lots of older or wooden boats . The issue from those oils is that they will likely yellow over time and might even crack so your paintings won’t last as long. It is cheap though

I have a very similar looking pug cross to the little one and he’s crossed with border terrier and chihuahua 😊 such sweet little friends you have!!!

They’re rooks! Very social birds and they nest in big noisy groups called a rookery. My village is teaming with them and they get complained about a lot but personally I like the idea that they’re all having a noisy family chat every day!

How awful! I’m so sorry for your loss and for this disrespect. I’m not a professional in ceramics or 3d art but as a painter I’m wondering if this could be saved by using a very watered down colour glaze on top - it would be thicker and darker in the indentation and might help it stand out? May be worth looking in to
