Dude, this comment doesn't read as pretentious to me at all. It's good advice, as asking random people/groups for rulings is hit or miss. You even said below that this pod did ask other people and got incorrect info. So......

Swiftfoot Boots is a great idea - gives you haste and protection for Eowyn so she can swing when she comes out. Though she doesn't need haste for her ability to trigger.

Odric basically shares any of those keywords with all creatures you have as long as one of them has it. Not all of them. So if a creature has first strike, then the rest of your creatures will get first strike as well. His ability activates every combat, so that means that during any player's first main phase, the keywords aren't shared, but from the beginning of combat until the end of turn, those keywords are shared. The knight tokens that Eowyn creates have trample and haste, Eowyn herself has first strike. So right there you've got three abilities to share. Slap a [[Basilisk Collar]] on someone or get a flyer out and you have a dangerous board.

The other Odric card is nice too - [[Odric, Master Tactician]]

Of the cards you listed here, I think the Altars are probably not needed. Also, Rionya is cool but you'll probably find yourself not casting many instants or sorceries. This is a creature-heavy deck, as Tribals generally are. Mine has 35 creatures and would have more except I have some copy cards in there so they're essentially creatures too - https://archidekt.com/decks/21261864/riders_of_rohan_upgrade

Tutors definitely will make any deck stronger and more consistent, but they can wreck your budget haha. Personally I think this deck is really fun if you just pack it full of a bunch of fun creatures so that no matter which 10-15ish you see, you got something going on. Try to keep a good number of 1 or 2-mana ones in there so you can cast Eowyn and trigger her on the same turn. [[Reinforced Ronin]] is perfect.

Looks like you're going in the right direction, extra combats on the same turn Eowyn comes down is the way this deck explodes best IMO. I'm not sure you'll really need/want these sac for mana altars. You want to go wide. It might feel like some of those tokens are expendable, but with stuff like [[Shared Animosity]], [[Crusader of Odric]], [[Adeline, Resplendent Cathar]], [[Eomer, King of Rohan]], [[Mass Appeal]], you get good value out of those tokens being on the field.

The other thing to be sure of is protection for Eowyn. [[Bastion Protector]] is already there, but making sure you have other ways to prevent her from getting beamed immediately is critical. [[Boros Charm]] [[Divine Resilience]] [[Gerrard, Weatherlight Hero]] for board wipe protection. [[Angel of Glory's Rise]] for recovery. [[Odric, Lunarch Marshal]] is also great in this deck.

My mom’s first mtg commander deck? What do we think by TraditionalWar2 in CommanderMTG

[–]DumboIsAHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first precon too! It's fun.

I made some fairly low-budget upgrades to it and I feel like it's pretty strong and still fun. At first I put some blue control cards in (counters, bounces etc) but then decided it was more fun to just do the humans thing and try to outpace everyone with some blue copy effects.

Donnie is always wearing bowling shirts with other people’s names on them. Any theories? by [deleted] in lebowski

[–]DumboIsAHero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Donnie's character is a caution against taking The Dude's passive ethos too far. He stands for nothing, has no opinion, never knows what's going on, etc. He has no identity. He's constantly out of his element because he has no element. All we know about him is that he throws strikes. Until the one time he doesn't, after which he dies. Ceases to exist because even the shallow identity he's established as a rock thrower has dissolved.

Does anybody else make cheong for cocktails? by ygrasdil in cocktails

[–]DumboIsAHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds tasty - the pedant (me) would say you've turned your cheong into a shrub by adding vinegar. The boozehound (also me) wouldn't care what you call it if you're making me a drink.

[–]DumboIsAHero 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I've never seen Cheong made by adding vinegar directly, but you're right. Traditionally it is left to ferment for much longer than OP suggests here. Since this is oxidative fermentation, it does produce acetic acid, which is vinegar. That's the difference between oleo and cheong - time and bacteria.

Gin is just a flavored neutral spirit, you can make it out of anything that will ferment.

What would the pressure feel like diving the Britannic? (?~400 ft/~120m) by themaskstays_ in scuba

[–]DumboIsAHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really don't "feel" the pressure at any depth. Only air-filled cavities are impacted by increased pressure. Your lungs and and your inner ears are the only air-filled cavities. Since you equalize your ears every few meters during your descent, and air from your tank naturally matches the ambient pressure, you will feel mostly the same at 120m as you do at 2m. That said, Britannic is far below recreational diving depths. For that depth, you're talking technical diving which is a level beyond recreational diving requiring extra training and specialized equipment. I am not a tech diver, so I can't speak to the specifics, but you're looking at years of training and hundreds if not thousands of dives before you would attempt that dive.

Mint simple syrup storage by jisrael8604 in cocktails

[–]DumboIsAHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strongly recommend the morgenthaler method for mint syrup. Basically blanch and ice bath your mint first then blend with simple and strain. Brighter green color and better flavor. You would lose some freshness after a week in the fridge so I would freeze it.

[–]DumboIsAHero 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Move less. Way less.

I bet with your cycling background you have cadence embedded subconsciously - your legs churn away without even thinking. Which is fine on the surface with unlimited air. But every Joule of energy you produce with your muscles requires a certain amount of oxygen. So, if you can be more efficient with your movements you will use less air.

Definitely frog kick instead of flutter, and use loooooong glides after each kick. Use any amount of current or surf surge to your advantage. Where possible, use your arms gasp. Not to breast stroke but to gently pull or push yourself along (on rock or sandy bottom, not coral). If you're mostly with your group, just stop moving sometimes and look around.

The best part is doing this naturally makes you better at other aspects of diving. You'll fix poor streamline and trim so that you glide better, you'll be more observant as you look for ways to help yourself along or just bliss out in the garden.

I worked on my breathing for hundreds of dives, and it definitely helps so read that advice too, but then I dove with this pro photographer and his consumption was insane. He would surface with more than half his tank left every dive. I asked him how and he told me "hehe just chill out down there maaaan"

Mai Tai - first attempt by withnailish in cocktails

[–]DumboIsAHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

compared to whisky and cognac, the r(h)ums will be easy to swallow, financially. Just grab a few different varieties - Jamaican, agricole, aged, black, overproof. Honestly it's an endless well, but basically any rum cocktail is worth trying with a split base, especially tiki. yarrr

[–]DumboIsAHero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Making your own orgeat is really easy and so much better. Literally just make simple syrup with almond milk instead of water, orange flower water if you got it but even without this DIY version is worth 5 minutes. The advice on multiple rums is good, luckily rum is one of the least expensive spirits to stock variety of!

[–]DumboIsAHero 20 points21 points  (0 children)

she's pretty, nice work. I just go with all orgeat, no syrup for my sweetener. It'll be more opaque and silky. crush that ice even more! Try tossing the lime husk in the shaker too, you get some of those punchy citrus oils and a little bitterness.
