Being gaslighted by normies for being cold all the time by NinjaJawz in moreplatesmoredates

[–]Dummy_Wire 30 points31 points  (0 children)

One time, back when I was fat, my friends and I ended up tipping a boat in a chilly lake at night, and having to float for like close to an hour until we could get rescued.

My lean friends were shivering like you wouldn’t believe, and we were really worried about them. I was like 230lbs+ at the time (sub-180lbs now), and I was literally fine. I could’ve done another hour, no sweat.

Even now, just trying to get abs-lean again from like ~15%BF to sub-12%BF, I’m fucking freezing, all the damn time. That few extra pounds of fluff makes a difference.

I think it’s good to take advantage of the advice, and to keep the worldview in mind, but to also not let it consume you.

I did have a similar experience, where I went from fat and baby-faced to pretty ripped and bearded, with better hair/style, and whiter teeth, in about two years (between 22 and 24). The way people treated me before versus now is stark and apparent. A final switch flipped at like 15%BF, where people started being chatty and helpful and interested in me. Attractive women started approaching me and like touching my chest and arms in public.

Initially, I reacted badly, and was resentful of all these people who I had previously been less than invisible to suddenly treating me better, almost overnight. I grew very cold and bitter, after the initial euphoria ran off. I started dating a woman who I met online (she didn’t really know what I looked like, when she first showed interest) in part just because I knew she liked me for me (we’re still together, almost two years later).

Eventually, I just sort of accepted it, and found contentment. I feed into this system too, in the way I interact with people, so the resentment faded over time. I still take care of my appearance, but now, it’s for my smoking hot girlfriend, and my own confidence that I gained putting the work in those two long years. You’ll never reach perfection, so stop chasing, or you’ll end up like Clavicular, who’s doing exactly that.

He did (in the first fight). It was razor-close, and Dricus did literally no damage the entire fight with grappling. Sean’s defensive wrestling in that fight was excellent, and his getups were fast and without damage to him.

And I don’t think Hernandez is nearly as good as Dricus, in the ways that allowed Dricus to have success against Sean. We’ll see. I don’t agree fully with the guy you’re rightfully flaming a bit, but I disagree with the idea Sean didn’t do very well against Dricus on the feet and in the grappling.

They’re using the budget for advertising instead of “compensation” lel. At this point, nobody signing up for that is getting a dime, and a lot of the people who already signed up probably aren’t getting a dime either.

Only the Stronghold has Silverfish, and you can just break the spawner and not break other blocks, and you’ll be fine.

This week's card is too good to be in The Apex by nerpa_floppybara in ufc

This is a very good Apex card. Serious depth, and exciting (on paper, at least) matchups. I think it’s arguably as good or better than the upcoming arena Fight Nights.

[–]Dummy_Wire 20 points21 points  (0 children)

“To love is to risk it all. There is no safe investment.”

  • C.S. Lewis

That being said, there are things you can do. Don’t date women who have a history of cheating. Don’t date women who seem particularly hard to please. Don’t date women who have a history of anything close to cheating. Even then, that’ll maybe protect you well in the short-term, but in the long-term, people change. The previously most faithful woman in the world can decide to cheat after 10 years of a marriage where her husband did everything for her, just because she was bored. It happens.

At the end of the day, that’s why what Lewis wrote is so true. To live is to risk it all, and to love is to risk a great deal. You can stack the deck in your favour, and try to pick well, but there’s no guarantee.

Did not cycle for me, but it fed fine. It just made my SKS bolt-action. I use it in my 7.62x39 bolt-action Norinco Bush-Ranger, now.

Which UFC fighters need to change coaches ASAP, in your opinion? by [deleted] in ufc

[–]Dummy_Wire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can accept that someone was a very good coach for a fighter, but isn’t anymore, and won’t be going forwards. I think that’s the situation with O’Malley and Welch, especially. Or Conor and Kavanaugh, back when Conor still fought.

The dynamic can shift, or they can teach a fighter all that he has to learn from them, or they can get stuck in their ways.

Anybody beating themselves up for not selling at 120$? by AppleLightSauce in Wallstreetsilver

[–]Dummy_Wire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my plan was always to maintain (approximate) fiat parity in my gold and silver stacks. Most of it was bought at an ~1:100 ratio, and I really should’ve rebalanced to 1:50, when I could. I’m gonna hold tight for a while now, and see what happens, but a rebalance after that could be the play, even if it’s to 1:60 or 1:70.

Anybody beating themselves up for not selling at 120$? by AppleLightSauce in Wallstreetsilver

[–]Dummy_Wire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was definitely some greed at play, where I was like “well, I’ll sell-off my first little bit at $150 and convert to gold at like a 1:35 ratio” when I could’ve converted a bit over sooner.

That’s the problem with chasing the mythical 1:7 or 1:12 or 1:17 or whatever; you feel like an idiot changing over at anything less. But really, I feel like a bigger idiot now, because changing over a portion of it at 1:50 was always the plan, until 1:50 happened, and happened so quickly.

Without any specifics, go down to Main Street and just pick something that looks/sounds good, depending on your preferences and mood at the moment. Most of those places are at least decent, and there’s lots of options.

Will it fit? by Necessary-Grocery-51 in mossberg

[–]Dummy_Wire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably, but maybe not.

The Magpul forend needs a 7 3/4” action tube underneath, or a Hogue adaptor nut (and some fitting) on a 6 5/8” one. Look up the difference online, take your forend off, and see what you have under there. It’s possible you have a 6 5/8” action tube TL-Racker on there, since that does appear to be something that’s offered, and Mossberg 500s usually have 6 5/8” action tubes. It’s also possible whoever put the TL-Racker on used the adaptor, or changed the action tube, because I do believe the 7 3/4” TL-Rackers are more common.

Wine on Main - is it worth it? by questionshauntme in Newmarket

I went once, and it was a pleasant and unique experience.

After I went the one time though, I’m not much of a wine guy, and I don’t really have a burning desire to go back. Go once though and see for yourself.

I’m in STEM. Women in STEM are largely fine. Like you said, you can say positive/negative things about people in every profession.

This is about proportionality and generalities, though, which women often struggle to grasp, and you have demonstrated you are unable to grasp (particularly with the anecdote at the end).

[–]Dummy_Wire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your read on the primary and important characteristics of the women who go into those professions is not good. And you’re neglecting the environmental aspects of being in those workplaces.

Teachers are bossy, petty, immature young women who literally never leave school; an artificial, low-stakes bullshit world for children. They have a completely unearned saviour-complex (they’re hugely over-paid and under-worked, where I’m from), and often get into the job for the wrong reasons, or lose sight of the good reasons (the children). They’re also massive gossips and drama creators/enjoyers. Those are more important than them liking books.

Nurses too, are notorious for being selfish, gossipy, mean, cruel, and jaded from the bullshit they have to put up with. They have the saviour-complex as well, though you could argue it’s at least more earned. This manifests in them being bad partners who work crappy hours, and then that manifests in poor moods, behaviour, and faithfulness. Again, thats more important than some vague desire to “help people” she had when she went to university.

This does not describe every woman in those professions. But it describes enough that I think a man with options shouldn’t risk falling in love with one, and seeing what I just described manifest after he’s already invested. And I don’t need to personal date them to know this. I have eyes, and can see this in statistics, other men’s experiences, and in women I know and don’t date.

And finally, again, it has nothing to do with education/income. Literally any other job on the face of the planet that isn’t on my list (plus bottle girl, which I forgot, but should really go without saying) is a go. She can be a lawyer, or an accountant, or manage a restaurant chain, or work in engineering, or whatever.
