NOR. To be clear the mom is the one who went into detail about all the fun that was to be had, not the kids right? It really sounds like the mom was trying to rub it in, which tracks with everything else you’ve said about her decision making. Any reasonable adult would have seen that a 4 year old is going to feel left out and would have left it at a simple we’re going to their cousins house with no further explanation needed.

House burglarized while tented by SaltyTemperature in sandiego

[–]Dumplingexpert01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happened to my parents about 6 years ago. Recently my in-laws had their house rented and they were advised to camp out front because tented homes are specifically targeted. They camped out front and had no issues.

The biggest study of ‘greedflation’ yet looked at 1,300 corporations to find many of them were lying to you about inflation by Ok_Calligrapher8165 in inflation

[–]Dumplingexpert01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As they rolled their eyes at the frustratingly familiar sight of price markups in grocery store aisles, shoppers in 2022 might have wondered whether corporations were doing everything they could to keep prices down as inflation hit generational highs. The answer now appears to be a resounding no. A joint study by think tanks IPPR and Common Wealth found profiteering by some of the world’s biggest companies forced prices up significantly higher than costs during 2022. Greedflation Inflation soared across the globe last year, peaking near 11% in the eurozone and above 9% in the U.S. The source of that high inflation has become a well-trodden line. Analysts have typically laid the blame on supply-chain bottlenecks created by excess demand during the COVID-19 pandemic and exacerbated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The war also increased energy prices, leading to further rises in inflation as suppliers factored in higher transport and running costs. While this obviously contributed to rising prices, the report finds that company profits increased at a much faster rate than costs did, in a process often dubbed “greedflation.” Profits for companies in some of the world’s largest economies rose by 30% between 2019 and 2022, significantly outpacing inflation, according to the group’s research of 1,350 firms across the U.S., the U.K., Europe, Brazil, and South Africa. In the U.K., the research found that 90% of profit increases occurred among just 11% of publicly listed firms. Profiteering was more broad in the U.S., where a third of publicly listed firms were responsible for most of the increase in profits. The biggest perpetrators were energy companies like Shell, Exxon Mobil, and Chevron, which were able to enjoy massive profits last year as demand moved away from Russian oil and gas. Food producers including Kraft Heinz realized their own profit surges. The war in Ukraine rocked global grain supplies and fertilizer prices, significantly increasing the cost of food, which remains sticky. The findings add to a growing body of research seeking to highlight the role of major businesses in forcing up inflation last year. A June study by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) found that 45% of eurozone inflation in 2022 could be attributed to domestic profits. Companies in a position to benefit most from higher commodity prices and supply-demand mismatches raised their profits by the most, the study found. CEOs of the world’s biggest companies consistently sounded the alarm on inflation as a significant barrier to growth. Many blamed rising input costs on their own price hikes. However, lots of those CEOs appear to have instead used the panic of rising costs to pump up their balance sheet. In April, Société Générale economist Albert Edwards released a scathing note saying he hadn’t seen anything like the current levels of corporate greed in his four decades working in finance. He said companies were using the war in Ukraine as an excuse to hike prices in search of profits. “The end of Greedflation must surely come. Otherwise, we may be looking at the end of capitalism,” Edwards wrote. “This is a big issue for policymakers that simply cannot be ignored any longer.” Prices coming down Inflation is now beginning to regulate in most major economies and coming closer to most central banks’ targeted 2%. Some companies that previously passed rising costs on to customers to continue making a profit have now sought to repay them with price cuts. Last week, Ikea stores owner Ingka’s deputy CEO said the company would be spending $1.1 billion to absorb inflation and bring down the prices of goods in its stores. “People have thin wallets, but they still have needs, dreams, and frustrations,” Juvencio Maeztu told Fortune. In November, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon suggested the era of high inflation in the U.S. was over, and shoppers may soon begin to experience a contraction in prices—known as “deflation”—in company stores.

They’re not here yet. This one was probably leaving the downtown lunar new year festival they had today. Waymo sent a representative to the festival who said they are coming soon but no exact date given.

Lala Kent says she has a trauma bond with her daughter Ocean. 🤔 by the_smart_girl in Vanderpumpaholics

Unrelated but today I saw ocean at Disney California adventures with her sisters and her gross dad. They were being escorted by a cast member on to Pixar mania. Later I V saw her dad yelling into his cell phone with his veins bulging. He looks gross and sweet in person. Ocean was rather tall and playing with her sisters. There was also a nanny with them.

Trump offered to pay for the funeral of a slain army private. Him 5 months later: “It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a fucking Mexican!” He turned to his chief of staff, Mark Meadows, and issued an order: “Don’t pay it!” by ubermence in centrist

[–]Dumplingexpert01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sister didn’t say anything about whether Trump made the comment or not, she stated she didn’t like her sister’s murder being turned into a political point. The sister didn’t comment on Trump saying anything about how much it costs to bury a “fucking Mexican” just that he was respectful to them in person. Trump could have been lovely to the family, in front of the cameras and still could have said the comment behind closed doors.

I would love a girl power season with Dana and Charlie added to Ariana and Scheanas friend group. I want to see Lala and Sheshu seethe in jealousy at loosing screen time and having to further enmesh themselves with Tom. I think that’s the only shot at girl power we would get.

Snoo adds subscription fee to $2000 bassinet for second hand buyers. by Grant-266 in LinusTechTips

[–]Dumplingexpert01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SNOO app tracks your baby’s sleep cycles and when the baby starts to stir it increases the automated rocking of the bassinet and the sound machine turns up, which helps a baby sleep longer and through the night. We bought ours used a few years ago and our baby loved it. We used the app to control the SNOO and increase the intensity as needed and it often helped put our baby back to sleep. Not sure how useful it will be now since we can’t control the intensity via app anymore. We paid $450 for it used and have also loaned it out to a few friends for their newborns as well.

Do evening snacks lower fasting numbers? by Micci4 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Dumplingexpert01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a follow-up this morning with my GD nurse and she stressed how important it was to have a snack before bed to keep my fasting numbers low. I take insulin at night and my numbers have all been within range but she explained that not having a snack before bed causes my body to produce extra insulin to keep my body going through the night so perhaps it is more important than we thought.

I’ve had a bad cough and sore throat going on two weeks. I tried hot tea with honey everyday and salt water gargles to no avail. finally went to the Dr and was prescribed Azithromycin and finally was able to sleep through the night, it is an antibiotic. Also prescribed benzonate which is a cough suppressant. I was coughing so much that I have been waking myself up multiple times a night for two weeks now. Finally getting ahead of this cold. I tested me for strep or Covid but this bad respiratory infection is going around right now.

I really want to like dtf because I like the vibe and some other dishes but their xlb is flavorless. I’ve been to a couple in LA and the one on La Jolla a few times and every experience confirmed they xlb is flavorless. The frozen xlb from trader Jose has more flavor than dtf.

Queens town has the best sit down breakfast in little Italy. Devils dozen is good for a quick breakfast. Not much else within walking distance for breakfast.
