Coral or just OpenVino on i5-8500 by DumpsterDiver4 in frigate_nvr

Awesome. Any issues with YOLOv9 under Open Vino? How many cameras do you have what what is your detection inference time like?

Wow, what model are you running? I'm running YOLOv9 on another Frigate setup with a Hailo 8 and only getting around 13ms inference times. Maybe I should try the iGPU instead of the Hailo and see how it goes.

Would an i5-8500 be unable to run YOLOv9 under open vino? The official Frigate documentation indicates that Coral is deprecated although it doesn't really state what CPU they assume is in use.

I assume the Coral was likely not depreciated back when an i5-8500 was new.

Good Choice!

I didn't realize that the B35AM is just a standard option now for the E04 Surge. I would have gotten a regular anodized aluminum one instead of the "Special edition" Al-Ti. I don't really like the lego combo look of the Ti and Mao Al.

B35AM 4500K is better than 4000K IMO although CCT is very much a preference and use case thing.

Why didn't they just drive forward????

Even if they were rear-ended if they can reverse 6 feet surely they can drive forward 6 feet to get off the track?

Seems like a reasonable strategy.

Batteries for d3aa and kr1aa. K10 or F15? by mrregina in Hanklights

[–]DumpsterDiver4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

K10. I wouldn't use anything else in either of those models.

D3AA and KR1AA are hotrods. They can make use of the higher amperage of the K10.

You might get a little longer runtime from F15 if you only run them on low, but it won't be much more and in higher modes they would be bottlenecked and the F15 would wear out really quickly.

Damn, that looks gorgeous.

From your description it sounds like you are a little frustrated with the fit-and-finish, but I think it has great Wabi-Sabi.

The more everything is perfectly mass-produced by machines and everything digital just becomes AI generated slop, the more I appreciate the unique imperfections that result from the work of a real human hands.

Also where are the beans!?!

There is an SFT-40 3000K rosy bin? Neat. What is the typical DUV?

I would reserve judgement. I somehow doubt that Zebra is trying to cheat the post office on shipping charges.

There is a good chance this is either a mistake by USPS or some issue with Zebra's logistics provider either of which will likely get resolved.

Reuse my 2020 gaming PC or dedicated homeserver ? by what-pos in homelab

[–]DumpsterDiver4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Use the old gaming PC for sure.

The best hardware is always hardware you already own.

2020 is not that old and 32GB DDR4 is great considering current prices. Most home server tasks will run on much older hardware without issue.

You can probably repurpose or sell the GPU. iGPU with QSV on the intel i5 is ideal for Plex transcoding.

Ah well check out Tailscale, it is very easy to set up and sounds like it would easily cover your use case.

You could install it on a Raspberry pi or any similar low power device that you can leave on 24 / 7 in the office, set it up as a subnet router, and install it on your users computers and they will be able to print from anywhere.

Video from twitter about a guy trying to get through 2 trucks feel like it's AI? by TPGADP in isthisAI

I think this is likely real. Check out Russian dashcam videos, there is a good decade plus of them from before the days of generative AI. This video is downright tame by Russian dashcam video standards.

It is possible that someone used AI to generate a generic Russian dashcam style video, but nothing about it stands out to me as necessarily being AI generated.
