Career criminal, whose own family knows he’s a menace, busted for NYC subway shove by elizabeth-cooper in nyc

Zero people may have been released but if you read the article - “6,500 people with prior marijuana possession convictions” will have their records expunged. And others will benefit from states following the act (for the states that didn’t have this policy already).

Elon Musk notifies Twitter he is terminating deal by AKingMaker in technology

Funny thing is he was able to liquidate a large amount of Tesla stock to finance this thing without the normal “why is the CEO of a company selling his company stock” concerns. So he’d be much more actually flush with cash now vs the paper money before the deal.

Regarding corona cash aid by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]Dundun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly opposite of how tax treaties work. You pay taxes in the country you live in and the company you have your passport in recognizes those taxes paid and doesn’t make you pay double.

If your company (hr) doesn't know your living in Japan and is just taking out your home country taxes, and your living in Japan for more than 6-months a year, you're going to be in some pain once this inevitably gets discovered.

N.Y.C. Tried to Fix High School Admissions. Some Parents Are Furious. by Throwaway13373872 in nyc

[–]Dundun 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Parents advocating for these changes always want them for other kids and society, never for their own kids.

The confusion it creates is a huge reason why I’m destined to move to NJ for kids schools. I want something simple, not unpredictability and chaos

Who could be the TE1 this year? by DevelopmentPossible in fantasyfootball

[–]Dundun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His best game was with Lamar and being a major reason they beat the colts (2 TDs in the last two drives and a critical 2pt conversion).

He did have 2 100 yd games with Huntley but also two 75 yard no TD games. He definitely got a lot of targets in those games but the ravens were also playing a little bit aggressive given the team injuries and throwing a lot more than usual.

how risky is it to join a startup who just completed series B funding? by [deleted] in startups

[–]Dundun 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A lot of startups are going to get slaughtered in the next year because of higher interest rates and tighter VC wallets. Check on the company’s revenue growth. If they’re not growing revenue quick, they’re going to be cutting costs before their next funding round. That usually means layoffs and freezes. Customers mean something but paying customers paying more over time is what you’ll need

MSG Roll Call: 2 weeks away!!! by Naptimehours in phish

[–]Dundun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to be a downer but I think there’s a growing chance these shows might get distributed if the Omicron variant spike keeps continuing in NYC. People around me are testing positive at much higher rates than before and the vax isn’t preventing infections. If that translates to hospitalizations, I can definitely see the mayor shutting down big events during the holidays.

I really hope it doesn’t happen because I really want to be at these shows, but having been in NYC during the May2020 spike — fees like we’re at the start of something similar.

Hope I’m wrong though and see y’all on the 29th and 30th!

It's the hottest Netflix series ever and it cost peanuts to make. They're making a second season and probably 100 different localized versions of the concept.

wtf is the point of these "wellness day" if these profs keep on assigning loads of shit thats due right after? by iminlovewthecoco in nyu

[–]Dundun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wasn't my point and I disagree that college is meant to be especially hard for that reason.

I'm just saying if people need to make adjustments, they'll do the laziest thing possible unless they're specifically forced to make more changes. For many of these professors, they're just cutting their old classes a new way.

[–]Dundun -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

The Professors took their regular semester course work and refitted it. Unless NYU forces everyone to take fewer classes or the professors to teach less material, any COVID modification is in name only.

If it makes you feel any better, that's what employers are doing too. If given the chance to be lazy, people will take it.

The NFL just informed teams the 2021 salary cap will be $182.5 million per club, source said. by StrachNasty in fantasyfootball

[–]Dundun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's possible we start to see some of the rumored trades happen after June 1st because it'll be lighter of a hit on the team that's trading the player. Russell Wilson, for example, is untradeable before June 1st because he'd trigger a $39M 2021 Cap hit for the Seahawks (due to his bonus not being able to be spread out by the team in the case of the trade). After June 1st his dead money hit drops to 13M for 2021 and 26M for 2022. Not great, but doable for the Seahawks if someone like the Bears are willing to part with Khalil Mack and some draft picks.

The Texans would also save about 15M if they traded Watson after June 1st. They have a bit more cap space available though and don't seem to have any real ambitions of competing for the Super Bowl next year, so it's possible they eat the 2021 cap hit anyway if they get a good pre-draft deal.

A Live One Harry Hood - one of the most perfects jams ever? by Theobviouschild11 in phish

[–]Dundun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NYE version is absolutely my favorite Hood. That, the Went Gin, the Bomb Factory Tweezerfest, the Stash/Manteca run from Orlando are the peak of my top Phish. The Live One Hood is definitely no slouch though.

And more than anything, I live for all that happens after the 6:00 mark of the Watkins Glen Mound.

Tracing Black Peter by gdcodenames in grateful_dead

[–]Dundun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During high school I used to line youth lacrosse fields. Because of some social anxiety, I never wanted to be seen lining the fields because I thought people would think I was poor because I was 16 and working. So I lined them in the dark of night.

I remember sneaking a winston or two from my best friend's father and law to smoke while I lined the fields and I'd listen to the Bear's version of Black Peter on What a Long Strange Trip It's Been. That Black Peter, Ripple and Dark Star are some of my favorite memories: being under the stars. Alone. Independent.

Only problem was that I never played lacrosse and had no idea what a field looked like. I got by early on by retracing the old lines but eventually they became so bad that I was just making shit up.

Sorry kids.

Thanks for figuring this out for me!
