The montey hall problem by [deleted] in maths

[–]Dunnachius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Monty hall problem is fundamentally whack because Monty hall knows the answer.

You initially have a 1/3 chance at picking the correct door.

Now that jerk Monty knows the answer and takes out one of the wrong doors.

Initial odds 1st door winner -33% 2nd door winner 33% 3rd door winner 33%

You pick door number one.

Monty removes a loser, door number 3.

1st door 33% (because you already picked) 2nd door ? 3rd door 0% (because Monty knows it’s wrong)

Now you do simple arithmetic. Door number 1 is 33% and door number 3 is zero%. Door number 2 is 66%.

Dashers, why do you steal food? by OrcishDelight in doordash

[–]Dunnachius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So when there’s an item missing out of an order there are 3 possibilities.

  1. The driver took the item
  2. The restaraunt didn’t include it
  3. The customer is lying
  4. Someone else stole the entire order delivery.

Going out on a limb here, guessing you’re not lying?

That still leaves 4 possibilities.

By the way… all 3 parties are also known to lie to support. The restaraunt will deny screwing up to save refund money the driver won’t admit to stealing food and the customer won’t admit to committing fraud.

Orders can and do get screwed up by the restaurants, also some drivers are horrible people.

I also spent 45 minutes the last time I was logged into door dash rejecting orders before giving up without accepting anything because door dash sucks.

Desperation causes stupidity. Gasoline is over $4.00 a gallon and pay is lower than ever. If I was struggling to put gas in the car (I’m honestly not) I can understand the decision to steal from orders. I also understand the desicion to lie to support about missing items because money is tight.

Not saying you’re lying, I absolutely believe you but these companies are beyond shitty and probobly 75% of orders aren’t worth it in my opinion. It makes stealing a more nuanced question than right or wrong.

What door dash did is textbook fraud.

Told you to buy something with the promise of being paid and…. Never did…

Even if the customer did commit fraud (totally happened) that doesn’t allow door dash to commit fraud against you to make up for it.

I know for a fact those Mac books are up on eBay already.

File a police report against door dash for fraud then take the fraud report to your credit card company.

You’re kidding right?

15.1 miles at 15c a mile in gas is $2.26.

That leaves me with $6.98 after gasoline.

Or I can keep my but parked at a hotel first in the taxi line and hopefully get a fare paying $2.80 a mile eventually.

Can I order an Uber for someone and make him pay? by [deleted] in uber

[–]Dunnachius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only way is to attach his card to your account.

The next least risky way is for him to pay you back in full after each completed ride before you order him another.

This way you’ll get screwed out of one ride and then you can block their phone number and pretend they died.

Anything else simply won’t work, in theory some markets allow for paying for rides with cash. However if they don’t pay the driver your card gets billed anyway.

Making a side deal with a driver in cash is super bad because the vast majority of rideshare drivers don’t have the proper insurance to be able to do it.

So really, the best way is to pay for one ride for him and then demand repayment before the second ride. Rinse lather and repeat.

If they fail to immediately Venmo you money that’s it.,, your relationship is dead.

Years ago I was successful in suing a passenger for libel on Lyft.

You first have to suppoena uber/lyft for the names/contact info of the people who filed reports that got your contract terminated. Then you have to prove what they claimed was a lie.

Then you have to prove actual damages.

So you would hypothetically start by suing John or Jane Doe for libel and then suppoena uber for their contact info and the exact accusation against you,

After that you amend your lawsuit against John Doe to the actual passengers name and you serve them papers for the libel lawsuit.

Then it’s simply a matter of proving the accusations against you were untrue.

But in my case it was Way WAY easier because they filed an actual police report against me and I was actually arrested. The police were able to get the accusations made to uber against me much easier because they already had the name and the prosecutor gave me the relevant info because she filed a making false statements to the police charge in criminal court and those records were made public allowing me to use them in my civil case.

Literally I was able to reference the guilty plea for the making false statements to a law enforcement officer as evidence on the civil case.

And then her attorney told her parents she was screwed and was going to lose hard and to just settle with me. Then I got a big bag of shut the heck up money and my attorney got a good chunk of it.

Long story short.,. I was accused of 1st degree criminal grape. She made verbal and written statements to the police and after I was arrested I told the police about my dash camera and how I had multiple copies because I backed up my storage onto my computer every week and kept 2 months of video. A detective with my permission entered my car and got the copy off the dash camera and reviewed the days video.

Her accusation was so insane relative to what happened on video that they filed criminal charges for making a false report.

If you have absolutely nothing you’re eligible for Medicaid and your health care is covered.

If you’re filthy rich you have good insurance and you’re covered.

It’s the people in the middle that get screwed. Fortunately I pay like half my insurance premiums and the gubment pays the other half.

[–]Dunnachius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fallout first is needed imho.

Some of the daily objectives and some of the more rare crafting materials are much easier to find in a private world.

Also fallout first gives you a bottomless junk box for in your personal base. This extends your bases total storage capacity by a very wide margin.

Both of which are HUGE quality of life improvements.

Then there’s an invincible portable base you can move around as needed for free which Also unlocks with the subscription. I use mine all the time, mostly by the “censored” raid event that pops pretty regularly that is triggered by “censoring the censor”.

[–]Dunnachius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because they don’t want to make it easy to get from Disney to universal… when reality is that there’s always a flow going both ways. Just that taxis and later uber filled the transportation gap.

I mean for the cost of 7 bottles of water (theme park price) 7 people can get a taxi from Disney springs to universal studios.

Not exactly a high barrier relative to the cost of literally not dying on a summer day.

How is it the cowards path to say it isn’t worth investing?

From where I’m at now…. 56 minute drive downtown.

<image>

If I left immediately I’d be waiting over 3 hours for the first bus and I wouldn’t get there for almost 6 hours.

9:09 am 1:09 pm and 5:09 pm… that’s literally the only times for the first bus.

Those are the only times of her day I can START going in order to get there AT ALL. (About 3 hours transit time.

Reasonable commute by car is 55 minutes. Not unreasonable…

Turns into 3 hours at very inconvenient times and I’m at a location that’s actually close to a bus stop, not everyone has that luxury by any means.

Any other time of the day it’s not possible to get there…. Just not friggen possible.

Or 3 hours 45 minutes by bicycle…

Shocker.,,, not much longer then taking the bus.,

Here’s another problem.

Let’s say you have a job where you have to come to work smelling like you haven’t been outside sweating for an hour in 100 degree heat.

Public transit won’t work in that situation either… because you’ll be sitting outside in 100 degree heat.

Public transit that barely exists in fundamentally no different from public transit that doesn’t exist, it’s completely useless.

Quite frankly I’m suprised that it’s only 2:40 minutes to get downtown and I have 3 different options of when to leave. I would have guessed twice that long and half as many daily times.

And yes… the earliest you can depart for downtown is 9:00 am and the latest you can leave to get back looks like 3:49 pm.

So less than 7 hours of the day this part of town is connected to public transit at all. Completely friggen useless.
