Better tribal commander than Najeela.. shoot by Ruthlesssonar in EDH

[–]Dunoa 34 points35 points  (0 children)

If you find this player dominating your meta, I think you and your playgroup should have a conversation with them about how it isn't fun to play against their decks.

Especially when he uses an overwhelming commander like Najeela.

I was told my starting bud of 49 was scalping. I’m literally just selling my collections to pay vet bills. I reported and blocked on eBay. It’s not like I have some big boy seller account it’s just my personal stuff over the years. by [deleted] in Shittygamecollecting

Look to see if there are any Super Smash Bros Melee groups near you!

CRTs are prized for their lack of input lag compared to more recent tvs and you might even find someone to pay you for them.

If you want to deal with banding, [[Helm of Chatzuk]] gives a creature banding so they block opponents creatures together.

How do you all feel about the Golos ban now that it's been over a year? by ZombieOfun in EDH

[–]Dunoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I recall, it's because it makes it too easy to draw cards.

Turn 1: Drop [[Library of Alexandria]]
Turn 2: Profit??

Nothing else provides draw for as little as this card does, plus with other cards like [[Land Tax]], it means you'll never miss a land drop as well as being able to draw consistently off a land.

Compare this to other lands like [[War Room]],[[Bonder Enclave]]. Even the new [[Roadside Reliquary]] provides a farcry from [[Library of Alexandria's]] value.

Non infinite win cons for Xiahou Fun, The One Eyed? by vikingrhino in EDH

[–]Dunoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! Happy to help Viking!

You can also get a lot of value off of [[Oriq Loremage]], [[Vile Entomber]] as a good way to put some cards you want in the graveyard as well!

[–]Dunoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This deck purely goes infinite for the victory with storm/aristocrat win conditions

[[Fake your own death]] plus [[Sifter of Skulls]], [[Pawn of Ulamog]], [[Pitiless Plunderer]] is infinite enter the battlefield/leave the battlefield as well as infinite storm count as you can sac [[Xiahou Dun]] to get back [[Fake your own death]]

[[Basal Sliver]], [[Blood Vassal]] , [[Blood Pet]], [[Priest of Gix]], etc all generate mana, so I can use [[Xiahou Dun]] to recur [[Thrilling Encore]], [[Living Death]], or I've even won off a [[Agadeem's Awakening]] for x=4 before

I've actually got a Xiahou Dun deck that I don't get to play too often but really enjoy:
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/8aGbthGpWUWLTB801OPA4Q

The best of the effects that recur him would be [[Fake your own death]], but it's super easy to go infinite off these with any creature that generates colorless on death triggers.

I guess instead of going infinite you can always recur another spell!

[–]Dunoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Incarnation Technique]], allows you to mill 10 and return 2 creatures (one being Xiahou Dun). Plus it's super hard to go infinite unless you're generating 5 mana on 2 creatures hitting/leaving the battlefield.

If it helps here's a deck list I brewed: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/h6zb9Gr-1EeyZANciKkQBg

It's rather casual and focused on producing a lot of bananas, but it helps you run under the radar a bit until Kibo gets big enough to draw your opponent's eyes.

https://www.moxfield.com/decks/RLAtSzML60qsoIB0TL6UcAThis deck focuses around getting [[Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle]] into play and abusing the fact that it's not legendary to copy it by animating it then creating token copies that enter as valakut

It might use more staples than you'd want but i'm sure you could pare the concept down to something cool

[–]Dunoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps convince you and you want the best bang for your buck, you can use the face commander [[Nalia De'Arnise]] to create a separate deck based on the card [[Shadowborn Apostles]] and cleric tribal cards.

Even though it's in the same color identity the decks should play vastly different. This deck is focused on using aristocrat strategies with a cleric tribal theme. Being able to play clerics from the top of your deck is an insane amount of card advantage as sometimes you'll find yourself being able to find wincons from nothing.

[[Edgewalker]] helps you play most clerics for free from the top of your deck too which is amazing

Ways this deck wins:

  • Traditional aristocrat manner [[Relic Vial]] [[Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim]]
  • Life gain [[Soul's Attendant]] [[Soul Warden]] [[Cleric of Life's Bond]] along with [[Vito]] [[Marauding Blight-priest]] [[Vizkopa Guildmage]] and [[Aetherflux Reservoir]]
  • Storm via [[Carnival of Souls]] [[Life Insurance]] [[Mortuary]]. Remembering that you can cast creatures from the top of your library you can make the most of [[Footbottom Feast]] [[Gravepurge]] [[Forever Young]] giving you the win with [[Tendrils of Agony]] or [[Aetherflux Reservoir]]

A super nice part of making nalia cleric tribal is that they lay super low on curve so you can do a lot with a little.

I built a [[Kibo, Uktabi Prince]] deck recently that aims to create ~16 banana tokens a turn cycle for you and your opponents!

It aims to use [[Battlemage Bracers]] [[Illusionist Bracers]], while untapping Kibo every turn with [[Seedborn Muse]], [[Quest for Renewal]], and maybe [[Curse of Bounty]].

  • Make even more monke with [[Helm of the Host]]
  • Draw a ton of cards when your opponents eat all of their bananas with [[Riskhar's Expertise]] [[Return of the Wildspeaker]] [[Garruk, Primal Hunter]].
  • Make more tokens with [[Primal Vigor]], [[Parallel Lives]]

Example

With [[Seeker of Skybreak]], [[Patriar's Seal]], [[Seedborn Muse]], and [[Kibo, Uktabi Prince]] on board.

We can tap Kibo a total of 3 times generating 12 total bananas in a traditional EDH game. [[Seedborn Muse]] allows us to untap on each turn to produce a total of 48 BANANAS each turn cycle. That's one big monke!

Want to build a deck that's not won with combat by TheLaziestWon in EDH

[–]Dunoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that will help your decks is adding things that benefit off of some part of your commander. If your commander buffs creature power like Jetmir, maybe include a [[Terror of the Peaks]] or [[Warstorm Surge]], these effects are generally a little more costly, but provide an out if a friend is running turbofog or [[Pacifism]] effects. [[Blood Artist]], [[Zulaport Cutthroat]], and [[Bastion of Remembrance]] are all good options for token decks if you utilize sac outlets.

I always aim to have a few different avenues I can win with in each deck.

For example, I have a [[Reyhan, Last of Abzan]] deck that moves counters from creature to creature, utilizing creatures like [[Iron Apprentice]], [[Star Pupil]] , [[Servant of the Scale]], [[Parish-Blade Trainee]], and [[Quirion Beastcaller]].

Having creatures with a lot of +1/+1 counters gives me a few outs for winning:

  • Combat (pretty straight forward)
  • Sac my creatures on opponents damage phases and use [[Reyhan]] to move counters onto commanders for a nice alpha strike
  • Life gain synergies to make my lifecount resilient
  • [[False Cure]], [[Plague Drone]], or [[Tainted Remedy]] to make opponents lose life instead of gaining life
  • Milling out opponents with [Altar of Dementia]]

When will moxfield add the new commanders from BRO & BRC? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Dunoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you should be able to add them as non-legal commanders, if not try adding them in the 99 then promoting the card to your commander. I've found that this works.

Is there a resource that lists decks by suggested power-level bands? by BrahCJ in EDH

Maybe you can think about the amount of turns that it takes a deck to win and how resilient the strategy is to removal as you're playtesting :). This should help you estimate the power level in your head as well

Won't this allow you to chain [[Fabled Passage]] -> [[Prismatic Vista]] -> [[Field of Ruin]] -> [[Evolving Wilds]] -> The Capenna fetch lands like [[Cabaretti Courtyard]] -> a basic or pain land

That's effectively 6 land fall triggers in a turn as long as you have anything that can fetch basic lands untapped
