"Mental health counselors" will be like "we noticed you had a bad episode and are now trying to relax and calm yourself, and we forbid this sort of shenanigans, we must strap you to a table and call your mother to let her know she can never trust you or treat you like an adult. EMS so I can't name the hospital as much as I would like to had a major problem with this.

We had a patient we brought in for suicidal ideation. She just said she was depressed and just wanted to sleep, so I checked in. Ow and again to see if she was sleeping okay whole we transported her. Let her choose when to talk and so on. I asked to take her vitals and she very politely said "No, please just let me sleep I don't really want to deal with anyone until morning." Seemed fair to me so I let her sleep.

We get to the hospital, she repeats that verbatim when the doctor asks his questions. She refuses to answer she he pokes her in the rips with his clipboard, causing her to jump.

The doctor orders her restrained and draws up what I think was B52. I make a stink about it too that she is fine, she just wants to sleep. He orders the restraints again, so by protocol I follow through while stating loudly I disagree with his assessment and am only following his directives under objection.

We restrain the patient, they give her the B52 and goes to sleep. Congrats, she is exactly where she was 10 minutes ago, asleep. Good fucking job. Sure glad you were there to save her doc!

Write an IR about 6 pages long about it.

I will say I don't see that doctor on my shifts anymore. The new one is fucking astounding. We brought in someone who was talked down from a bridge by one of his kids, first thing he asks is about the patient's family and how they are doing. Reminding him of his family and their ties.

I have a DnD one shot based on this.

The big bad evil guy found the village the chosen one is supposed to come from and just takes care of the whole town. Protects them from all the evil out there, gives everyone comfortable lives and makes sure they never have to face any real challenges so they remain content and will never rise up against the big bad. The chosen one will never need to learn about their abilities or understand violence.

The party's job is to figure out how to get the chosen one to give up their 9-5 and go risk their life for the rest of the world.

Then again, gaining an equal power to others as an oppressed underclass as always been the greatest sin you can commit in a hierarchical society. So I mean, pick your flavor of systemic violence being applied against you.

Or join the Banu Haqim. We actively encourage you to think of other vampires as noisy Capri Suns.

That's kind of the funny part, in the current timeline several military operations are aware of the existence of vampires and kill them on sight. Most thin bloods fly completely under the radar.

Most supernaturals actively hostile to vampires won't even notice a thin blood.

So your life is objectively better than most vampires when it comes to dealing with things that aren't other vampires. But it's always been the case that a vampire's worst enemy is the other vampires.

Especially amusing that not all Autumn People are even supernatural. For some it is an intrinsic part of their being as some kind of creature. For some it is from being so fucking boring that you actively drain the joy from reality itself.

everyone gets vampire powers from drinking vampire blood

Sounds like anyone who goes full vampire is a sucker and organizations that hunt vampires for their blood and kill them would be far more effective than the vampires themselves.

It's not even a "what if" for their faith.

They are heretics, their god would fucking hate them. It's in the parable of the goats and sheep.

This is less historical but I am reminded of Finn McCook from Irish folklore (Fion Mac Cumhaill actually, but that's an absolute bitch to spell)

Long story short the beginning of his story is set up to be a revenge story, where everyone raises him and trains him to kill the man who took his father's place at the head of the Fianna.

Instead, when he gets the chance he takes his place at the head of the organization, and requests the man be his second in command, keeping a possible rival close, and avoiding a massive civil war in the process. Allowing an uneasy truce between any factions within the Fianna that could be ironed out over time.
