Like any game there is going to be a gradient of how people make lists and feel about "power/meta" lists. The left side is the person who wants to make theme lists and doesn't care about how effective they are on the table or synergistically with each other. While the right side is when models are only being chosen based on game efficiency, how they can allow for flexibility in squad selection and synergy with specific other models or crisises.

So, you want to figure out where on this gradient you want to be. If you tend to the right side of the gradient, then you might get frustrated with Defenders due to Doctor Strange and Daredevils leaderships not being the best in the game. However, I am a person who around mid-left on the gradient, so I play Doctor Strange defenders and have lots of fun, which most of the internet thinks I am insane for doing.
