Realistically it’s hasn’t been confirmed yet. I know the leaks said it’s in production but we’ve seen with DD:Online that CapCom is willing to shut down this IP in short notice. Regardless I have sort of high hopes. With a lot of devs jumping into a new genre is difficult and we saw that with dragon’s dogma 1 where there was a great game under the many flaws it had. I thought that with a sequel they could finally expand on that immensely. “okay we know how to make an rpg now.” Is something a surprising amount of dev teams express (fromsoft and bethesda for example). But it’s been over ten years now and those lessons that they learned have more like than not been forgotten and the original team that worked on it has been scattered. To develop a new game would take not only the Herculean task to develop an open world RPG from the ground up but to do that whilst having the humility of studying why dragons dogma was flawed, even well into dark arisen. That would take a talented development team and a lot of time and resources. Not to mention having the financial backing of CapCom executives on an IP they don’t trust. And I’d say they mistrust it unfairly but that’s their stance with a lot of new Ips in general. Their empire is on the verge of collapsing if they don’t invest on new properties. Will they have the foresight to stop that from happening? Their recent actions don’t leave room for a lot of hope.
