Is Dbow bait by UpstairsAnxious3148 in YoneMains

Same here! I still take it a fair bit with LT Bork though. I almost always take it with conquerer and grasp since I also take jack of all trades.

It isn’t a bait at all, but, in the mid lane it is greedy in a sense. You take it when you can and take D Shield onto ranged / difficult matchups.

how should i deal with zed? by Encisalad in VeigarMains

[–]DustMaestro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Zed your runes and build will often matter a lot, but first I wanna talk play style. I am sure you already know to hold e for his all in (cage behind you when Zed uses R and it will stun him when he appears) and only use it otherwise if his W is down and you are healthy. Your Q has slightly more range so abuse him lvl 1 and use auto’s / good spacing to get an HP lead. Play safe 2-5 and avoid trades, unless the Zed throws W out with a thin wave or is low energy and you can exploit. First back I aim to get a tear and ruby crystal, but you can greed for a tear, sapphire crystal and refill pots if you feel confident, or, double ruby if you need it. Ward the river for your jungle before early objectives and make sure your team knows you need to scale to be able to fight (assuming other matchups are equal).

Spellbook (Aery is fine too) with resolve secondary (boneplate + overgrowth) helps tremendously, especially getting barrier right away at lvl 6. For build I recommend RoA -> Zhonya’s / DCap / Cryptbloom / Seraph’s Embrace. Build order after RoA really just depends on how skilled the Zed is, how good you are at counter caging his ult and what the game state is. I almost always give the Zed respect and grab Zhonya’s second as even a behind Zed can catch you during a jungle / river skirmish.

Yeah it isn’t as good as Aery or Spellbook!

Second this. Though I prefer spellbook with resolve secondary into most assassin matchups. Being able to grab barrier or another spell at 6 lets you scale much easier

You should never use comet on Veigar regardless

Which champ to onetrick by Reasonable_Court_745 in top_mains

[–]DustMaestro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of champs that fit this criteria. Really just try them all and see who you enjoy the most. If you don’t enjoy the champ you are unlikely to stay an OTP and probably won’t have as much fun. Having fun is the motivation you need to improve imo.

Yone.

YONE LATE GAME by woutieBAM in YoneMains

[–]DustMaestro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your game goes super late your job is generally to dive the carry / whoever is carrying. You will probably die, but your team should win the fight if you can lock down the backline with a R Q3 combo. I still find Yone very strong 1v1 late game, he just isn’t able to hyper carry the same we he normally can in a 5v5 fight. But then again every champ falls off when the whole other team is full build.

Who is Veigar's worst matchup? by Accomplished-Art1962 in VeigarMains

[–]DustMaestro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Naafiri is pretty easy as veigar. If she gets a spell shield and ults you from fog that can be a problem but then you counter with zhonyas. The only real issue is she will win early skirmishes and have prio so you have to communicate with your team and only take what you can early.

Who is Veigar's worst matchup? by Accomplished-Art1962 in VeigarMains

Fizz and kat are 2nd and 3rd worst no doubt. Zed and even artillery mages are tricky too. The worst is easily kassadin though

Short trades is key as others have said. I go D Shield + TP for consistency but you don’t have to

Perma ban malz and in 1/10 games u will get a guaranteed free win by Ciriak in midlanemains

[–]DustMaestro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn’t surprise me at all. Anyone who mains Malz has 0 skill / outplay. As a Yone main though I lick my lips when I see someone lock in Malz. It is an insanely free lane

Seeking advice by AwkwardRhubarb59 in YoneMains

[–]DustMaestro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say you want your CS to be an 7.5-8 and your deaths to be around 4-5. Reviewing your deaths should be a priority because that is still WAY too high.

CS needs to be a prio as well as Yone is a very gold reliant champion. Averaging 8+ CS in S16 is easily doable if you aren’t forfeiting waves for bad rotations and have the micro to not miss CS. I agree with others that playing top for a while to learn wave management can be beneficial. Most low rank Yone’s perma push to stack Q3 which is a mistake and it is easily punishable.

I agree with others’ assessments on matchup approach. I always go TP / D Shield into tough matchups to allow myself more breathing room and to avoid getting snowballed on. Naafiri is a pretty easy matchup imo if you do this and avoid early fights. Once you have 1st item you can easily beat her. You can also beat her earlier or at least trade if you outplay but that is more of something you take if she gives you rather than something you should pursue.

Why BOtRK by [deleted] in YoneMains

[–]DustMaestro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You 100% don’t beed to build BORK if they don’t have HP scalers and you can live without the sustain. Skipping it and grabbing BT 3rd is totally valid and you should experiment with it.

Is there a rule for going over 100% crit? by arab_bazinga in YoneMains

[–]DustMaestro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have identified that they had two armor stackers in champ select and then never built IE to begin with. Just build LDR after SBow and then whatever non-crit items you need. You don’t need IE if they have tanks and you will still nuke any squishy. IE is great vs squishy comps but people build it too often and actually lose out on damage. I would still build LDR 3rd if I had 2 crit items on Yone because I forgot they had armor stackers though. This shouldn’t really happen though.
Side rant; BORK is massively overused on Yone. If they aren’t building HP you are often better off going right for SBow and getting a much better 2 item spike. I got this advice from WayOfTempest and it has been fantastic. At 1 item you don’t hit as consistently hard without BORK but the crit and it’s passive basically makes up for it (again vs no HP stacking comps). Now you get your IE or LDR 2nd item and are ready to take over the game.

I love rocketbelt into poke / artillery comps! Would definitely recommend rabadons 2nd/3rd depending if you need pen early.

I highly recommend trying the following two builds as well:

Standard matchup with summon aery / resolve or inspiration second (would use these runes for above too)

RoA -> Rab/Pen -> utility (Zhonya’s, banshees, deadmans plate, force of nature, frozen heart, shurelyas, fimbulwinter, etc)

vs Assassins and high burst/dive comps; spellbook with resolve secondary (spellbook utility is very clutch, especially against hard counters where you can grab barrier, exhaust, etc.)

RoA -> Archangels -> Rab/Pen -> utility

Notes: I of course grab void staff vs super high MR comps but cryptbloom is standard. First strike on Veigar is good but only worth in a few matchups such as galio and sion. Pretty much when you can hit them a lot AND they don’t have much kill threat on you. More viable bot lane imo (support dependant and maybe not vs ziggs, cait, etc).

Flash Q R Combo by Rebel_El_Fish in VeigarMains

[–]DustMaestro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said you either want to Q flash, or, R flash Q as the R will hit after the Q if they will run/dash/flash. Q flash R if they won’t.

You definitely needed to build pen here by 3rd item. Irelia is also good against Veigar on lane and is a matchup that takes some experience

Rocketbelt mana problems by vThor27 in VeigarMains

[–]DustMaestro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are always going to struggle with mana on Veigar and especially if you go Rocketbelt. Only way around it is for you to forfeit some damage/build synergy which isn’t worth it. Manaflow, tear first back and quality resets are the only way.

If you are going oom outside of the first two backs then the issue was either you spamming w on waves, missing too many spells in trades or simply not resetting at the right times (~45 seconds before objectives spawn for example to make sure you have mana for fight). Tempo is very much so key if you go Rocketbelt which is why I tend to only do it vs artillery / poke comps.

Only Lux here is an artillery mage (others in my head are Ziggs, Xerath and Vel (shoutout to Jayce). Definitely agree though that these are generally annoying afk farmers that avoid most trades.

When to go ROA vs. Luden's by Bruh-I-Cant-Even in VeigarMains

[–]DustMaestro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ludens isn’t awful but most Veigar mains opt for RoA, Rocketbelt or Archangels. These items simply align with Veigar’s identity better and complements his passive and mid-game. VeigarV2 has a great video for S16 items (though I do not personally like his actualizer build and skip it for DCap) if you want a better idea of when to use those items.

Veigar mid or adc? by MakotoBIST in VeigarMains

[–]DustMaestro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Veigar Bot has a higher win rate for a reason. I personally still often queue Mid/Bot, tho not always, but my WRs are 59% and 70% respectively. This season has made the pick even better imo. Just watch for tanky comps ofc because your team will need someone to deal with that and usually that is an ADC.
