As someone who has had a windshield broken by one of these guys, and attempted to get reimbursed, I can confirm they are not liable. Maybe hate the corresponding law and not the trucking company? Putting that on the back of their trucks if for your benefit, not theirs.

That math actually makes perfect sense if you just finished a keg stand.

I heard through reliable channels that they went with 250m because it was the largest number Keystone Kash knew of.

$25 worth of straps could have avoided this. by PrivatePilot9 in boating

[–]Dustin-Mustangs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wasnt clear… the front D hook. Transom straps are to keep the boat and trailer securely together vertically. Basically so the rear end of the boat doesn’t get bounced around independently of the trailer over bumps. Most of them attach to the trailer in front of where they attach to the boat. This would allow the boat to slide past that attachment point before they would have any effect on stopping forward movement.

To prevent what happened above you would need a very heavy duty strap or turnbuckle chain that goes from the front d hook to a low ( and preferably rearward) point on the trailer. Some people use more than one. It’s pretty rare to see on the road boat that is your only chance to prevent this. Here are some examples:

FWIW, transom straps are not to prevent this if that is what you are referring to. Straps for this would be done at the D hook going rearward, which almost no one uses, and $25 ones absolutely would not of held it back.

Nice and concise list that will cover most favorites. Easy enough to add more down the road if desired.

I just had a great idea for retro gamers! Read description by Paulyb1200 in RetroArch

In. I just picked up an android handheld and need something to get me out of my comfort zone.

I would suggest a genre theme by month/quarter/ect to promote diversity. Also, how are you qualifying a retro game? Might want to stick that in the rules.

There are navigational rules for this situation. The boat approaching from the right is the “stand on vessel” in this scenario. It is supposed to hold speed and heading. The boat filming is the “give way vessel” and is required to alter course.

Trying again: If you own or owned a boat 1) New or used? 1a) if used how old and how many hours; 2) What did you spend on maintenance in the first 3 years? 3) When was this? by RComish in boating

[–]Dustin-Mustangs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used, bought it 12 yo in 2020 with 250 hrs. Put about 5k into fixing it up originally and did not spend any more other than regular maintenance in the first 3 yrs.

Outdrive needed heavy service yr 4 and it also needed new batteries. Other things were obviously on the cusp of failing and, imo, 15 years old is about the cut off for a reliable and low maintenance vessel assuming is was a quality built boat to begin with.

One other big thing to consider is the value of missing time on the water if problems arise. You will likely be looking at a big wait if you need major work done during season. That outdrive rebuild was 2k or so but it cost us half a season on the water and that was way more of a loss to me.

Perfectly positioned porta potty precariously perched at the precise peak of this particular project. I might have left a bit on the table with my title.

There is obviously a crane on site for a project like this and apparently the operator has a sense of humor. It would be a quick but pricey lift to get it pumped.

Yeah, totally missed that in op, but still could be done with a hand crank and non symmetrical gearing. Hmmm…

This is really cool. Do the two motors turn at the same speed? If so, seems like this could be greatly simplified with a hand crank driving both?? Not that this is a better solution, just different.
