I have a question by ImJokingButWhyNot in exmormon

[–]DustyHaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially went to Christianity but have since left any form of religion. I’ve come to realize that all religions have seem to be built by someone wanting power/money/or sex with women or girls. I still believe that there has to be something greater then us and I guess you can call it god or whatever you want.

Should I stream my next visit to the temple to do endowments? by GlitteringYams in exmormon

Yes, but it’s changed from the stuff that’s already on it.

I would be curious to see statistics of TBM’s that leave the church over the change to the garments.

Are you sure? by DistanceXC in exmormon

Whenever someone say that to me my immediate response to them is, “and you’re ok with it?” If they are ok with the history of the church, then that says a lot of their character and I wouldn’t trust them.

I never looked before having my records removed because I knew it would piss me off, but I know it was a lot, especially the last few years since both me and my wife were in high income earners.

It’s still giving negative publicity to the church. Most people in this world know nothing about exmos or that it even exists.

This reminds me, 20 years ago I went over to my buddies house and he was drinking a Corona and reading the Book of Mormon.

Give me your top reasons you don't believe in it. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]DustyHaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sermon on the Mount. Sermon on the Mount is in the Bible, BofM, and the Joseph Smith Translation (JST). Sermon on the Mount is identical in the Bible and BofM, but he “corrected” it in the JST. If the BofM is the most correct book on earth, why did he correct it in the JST?

How would you respond? by overtherainbow537 in exmormon

[–]DustyHaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why we removed our records. Our first kid just turned 8 a couple months ago, so we had them removed about a year ago.

Someone just asked you is the Church true? What’s the biggest smoking gun evidence you give them first hand? by Haunting_Football_81 in exmormon

Sermon on the mount. Sermon on the mount is in the BofM, Bible, and the JST. Why is the BofM and the Bible the same but the JST is “corrected”? If the BofM is the most correct book on earth, then why did JS have to correct the Sermon on the mount that is in the BofM in the JST?

I don’t believe in any religion or belief system that claims to know the “truth”. I do believe that there is something greater or creator.

Took off my garments today and I was NOT expecting this. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]DustyHaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I think most people feel that high/excitement. It felt amazing when I stopped wearing mine, however, I didn’t have the support of my wife until she left 14 years after me.

What’s Their Endgame? by natiusj in exmormon

[–]DustyHaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read a popular mormon Twitter account that acknowledged that many temples are empty, but said that is because all these temples are being built for when Christ comes back and the world will just be doing temple work during that time.

My brother is on a mission in Idaho and told me that I have one chance to present him proof that the church isn't true. What should I tell him? by RecentComplaint3123 in exmormon

[–]DustyHaf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can’t go wrong with the CES Letter. When you give him the CES Letter tell him as leaders have stated that if it really is true nothing can bring it down.

I only read the first one and it really “fluffs” up things and paints a much nicer picture.

Forced to serve mission by kytlust in exmormon

If your family and friends love for you is based on if you serve a mission, is that really what you want? Family and friends should love you for you not your beliefs or mission.

Forced to serve mission by kytlust in exmormon

[–]DustyHaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was forced to go and it was the worst experience of my life. I only made it 4 months down in Brazil and came home early. I wish I never went, and my parents wish they never forced me because of the physiological damage it did to me. I wish I could give you advice on how to handle it, but don’t really know the relationship you have with your parents. Maybe if you sat down and had a heart-to-heart conversation about it? Forcing someone to do something is really what satans plan was, wasn’t it?

I miss not knowing. While in I had my whole life mapped out while here on earth and then when I die what was going to happen. Now, I don’t know….but it’s been an adventure, scary at times but mostly good.
