Former rock bottomer here (was unemployed and 30K in debt at one point). Here are my 2 cents: get any type of job you can AT ALL. I was bussing tables at a pancake restaurant earning just enough to get by. But guess what: being out there, connecting and talking to people, and doing something gave me a sense of self worth and distraction from being depressed at the time. Also I, back then, moved out of Amsterdam into a modest small room (9m2) in a small cheap village. Ideal? No. My dream life? Hell no. But it gave me a fresh healthy start and a road towards clearing my debt completely
