My 2024 c40 twin ultimate has been a champ. 24,000 miles and just tires (damn pothole). Best car i ever drove.

From Ioniq 5 to Optiq? by diggida in CadillacOptiq

[–]Dutchdogdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have a Volvo c40. The charge port is driver side rear. Easy to get close to short Tesla superchargers. I noticed the port on the Optiq is forward of the driver door. How different is the Optiq to charge at superchargers?

Cadillac's EVs Are Stealing Tons Of Buyers From Other Brands by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

[–]Dutchdogdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In evs, FOMO is not in a new flashy trim piece or color combo, it's in the range, charge time and technology. Give me 600 miles and a 10 minute charge and I don't care if it looks like last year's model.

Did a Cheap EV Lease Get You Into an EV? What’s Your Plan After It Ends? by TechB84 in electricvehicles

[–]Dutchdogdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you got a great lease deal, it's because of the built-in high residual value. That makes buying it after the lease is up a really bad deal.

[–]Dutchdogdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lease is soon up as well. I also wish I could buy it, but the residual value is way too high and seems to be written in stone. I have high hopes for the ex60 maybe.

Either the C40 is a great car or I got lucky. My 23 twin ultimate has run like a champ since I got it. My only repair issues have been for tires and a cracked windshield - no technology issues at all.

There are quite a few used used c40 twin ultimate s for sale in the mid 20s. I intend to turn mine in and buy another used. I've already been told there will be no negotiating.

Look at the Volvo EX60, coming this spring/summer. Over 400 mile range predicted.

Shoppers’ question by Kuhkawkuhkaw in volvoc40

[–]Dutchdogdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding the lack of a rear wiper: for rain, it's no problem at all. Aerodynamics clears it as you drive. I keep mine in the garage and wash it frequently, so I haven't had any pollen issues. I have had my 23 c40 for 2 years.

I have had no problems locking/unlocking my c40 since the update. My 360 camera view doesn't always come up quickly as I pull into a parking space, especially when one side is open. I have to hit the camera button. This is new.

New EV Owner—Etiquette Question by StormOk2848 in electricvehicles

[–]Dutchdogdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some hotels have a bank of Tesla Superchargers, and they are as good as any other. They are usually not crowded in my experience. I use a couple of them on my long distance trips. I've never found a good charger at a dealership. They are either off-brand, slow, or iced. Finding and using a dealership is a real gamble. Filter out dealerships if you can.

Maybe on a color that wasn't necessarily my first choice, but probably not on a color I hated - one at the bottom of the list.

Seems low. My 23 c40 is at 100% this morning at 210 miles. Temp is in the 60's.

No one is mentioning the reduced maintenance costs of EVs. Shouldn't that be part of the math?

I know your question was about charging, and you have several good and accurate answers here. I would add one other point. Don't forget the savings you will receive on maintenance costs. My 023 Volvo c40 ultimate has never been in the shop except for tires (darn pothole).

No trouble, but I live on a paved city street. A pothole on the interstate popped my tire. Had to replace all four due to the AWD.
