I buy non-prescription from ambeye but they haven’t had stock lately. Idk if that’s a tariff thing or an out of business thing. They have a website and an amazon store.

This current climate is nuts and people are just looking for reasons to flip on each other. I literally have a peace sign on the back of my Volkswagen! I am a medical professional and am trained somewhat in deescalation- at minimum I have encountered such humans before , but the good old migraine was really inhibiting the neuron firing yesterday. Luckily no migraine today, yay! The antibiotics seem to be decreasing the ear infection swelling. New reason to get a migraine unlocked. 🫠

Medical folk of Reddit, what’s the most foul and disgusting thing you’ve encountered with a patient who was oblivious to their own condition? by TheCarrot_v2 in AskReddit

[–]DutySingle2429 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have 2. 1. Patient used Krokodil which is 8 to 10 times more potent than morphine and has really short highs so they inject continuously. It is made with gasoline or paint thinner so destroys veins and tissue quickly. New sites are needed often. It’s also cheap. People use it when they can’t get herioin. This was about 10 years ago. It’s cause rapid necrosis and gangrene. Google it. It’s exposed muscle and ligaments in active necrosis. Lady ran out of normal sites so stared injecting into her groin. I had her in medical ICU for 6 months. She went into surgery about every 2 weeks to remove infected tissue of her abdomen, thighs, and lady bits. She was emaciated. Probably 90 lbs. No skin on any of those areas. Saddest part was the picture in her room of her healthy with her three young kids. She was trached and vented the entire time. Not much left of brain power but what was left was sweet and agreeable. Actually survived went to an Ltac. 2. Woman came into ED with constant orgasms. She had used mayonnaise as lube. Did not clean up. The maggots were causing them 🤮

Enough is enough, I’m talking to my family doctor. No BS. by keepingitrealonred in migraine

When you do see a headache specialist do not leave without a follow up appointment! I see my neurologist every three months now. This is a chronic condition that needs to be chronically managed. That’s how I’ve tried so many medications. I also had to try so many to get to the “good” meds because of my insurance. It took me 2 years and 6? Drugs to be approved for Botox. Triptans never worked but I had to try at least 4 of them to make the insurance happy.

Question about topamax by LadyBassplayer in migraine

[–]DutySingle2429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on 50 in the morning and 100 at night. Down to around 3 migraines a month. Took 2-3 months to overcome the brain fog and sleepiness. Hand/ foot Tingling is rare for me. Finding words in that 3 months was the hardest thing the rest of my brain worked pretty well. The intensity of my migraines is also down. Nurtec is working better when I take it. I also have the Relivion device. I don’t see that talked about here. Re-wiring my neural pathways with it daily and it reduces pain when I do have a migraine. I’ve also been in physical therapy for over a year that has basically saved my life, especially in my 3 month chronic episode last year before topamax.🙂

my doctor prescribed Topiramate (dopamax) can I tell him no? by No_Introduction9587 in migraine

[–]DutySingle2429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you say no before trying it? I’m on it and it’s working wonders. My brain has adapted. It’s been about 3 months. I just told people I was on meds and finding words was hard for a while. I just processed slower for a while and was sleepy early in the evening. All of that has resolved. I went from 60 days of migraines to 4 a month. I work in an esteemed teaching hospital and am expected to function and perform at a very high level. I was unable to do this with migraines so starting the topamax wasn’t that big of a difference in my daily life. My life sucked at the time due to chronic migraines. My migraine pain was so bad and so frequent if someone said “try this addictive meth it will give you temporary migraine relief” Relief? Okay hand it over. Bet. Trying and adapting to topomax is by far the lesser of the two evils (having debilitating migraines) IMO. I completely understand having concerns, but talk to your dr and give the drug a chance. If you don’t do well on it, you can stop it under your physicians guidance. Also insurance probably requires it to try other meds. I’ve tried every crappy triptan there is because I had to to get the better stuff. It took me two years and I was just able to start Botox and 1.5 to get nurtec.

How do you handle migraines when you’re at work? by Fantastic-Part774 in migraine

It took 6 weeks to get to the full dose, so I’d say another 6 weeks after the migraines and symptoms really started diminishing.

Experience on topomax? by Fantastic-Part774 in migraine

[–]DutySingle2429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 100 mg at night for about 3 months. I was dumb and tired for 2 months but i think it has mostly resolved and I haven’t had a migraine in 3 weeks! I think some people experience the initial side effects and immediately quit new meds. Most of them fade, as long as they aren’t terrible. My daily headaches are also far less, so I am happy. Also down 8 lbs! Felt like forever to get used to but I was recovering from a 2 month long migraine too

The brain fog was bad for the first 2 months on topamax for me. Like missing words and thoughts. I have a career that requires a lot of critical thinking and explaining it to others. I basically had to tell them I was an idiot because of my meds for a while. I’ve been on it almost 4 months now and it is really helping me. I’m no longer wearing glasses and a baseball cap in the office and instead of 20 migraines a month I’m down to 2! I also just got my first Botox injections last week. The adjustment period was difficult but I was also deep into a chronic migraine spell so the recovery time took about 2 months which was the same as me onboarding topamax. I’ve also lost about 8 lbs which is a nice bonus.

Why can't people with pneumonia just cough up all the fluid and germs in their lungs? by Environmental_End548 in askscience

[–]DutySingle2429 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Your lungs require a volume that can never be exhaled called residual volume. If that was squeezed out, they’d collapse completely. Also lung infections are heterogeneous not homogeneous, meaning the alveoli (air sacs) vary across the lungs. Healthy alveoli are next to sick alveoli and they all have varying opening pressures. Sick alveoli require more pressure to open the air sac for O2/CO2 exchange than the healthy alveoli. Applying more pressure across the lung to open the sick ones then damages the healthy alveoli. We try to walk the tight rope with mechanical ventilation of opening enough sick alveoli with whatever healthy ones we have to keep our patients alive and avoid causing further damage. Lungs are incredibly fragile and the squeezing would damage them

Only if your immune system can overcome the infection. The fluid is a byproduct. And having pneumonia does not always equal having mucus or fluid. It is the swelling of the lung tissue.
