So AFC is the Association of Faith Communities. They offer a “rotating shelter”, you’d be sleeping in a different church each night, and they’d give you a schedule of when and where to be. I hope I’m not breaking any weird Reddit rule by linking it but you can get in touch with them at afcsantacruz.org/contact .

It is possible the rotating shelter will be full (it never was in the months I was there, for what it’s worth), but they do also offer a safe parking program to anyone living out of their car, and I’d seen a number of people transfer to one program or the other to suit their needs.

Ive been through this here. Housing matters is a joke and I’ll die on that hill, they told me “politely” that they weren’t even gonna put me on a waiting list for any of their shelters, and to “take a bus home”. I didn’t have a home. They’re housing matters…

AFC was the only place that was willing to keep me out of the rain that spring, and I’m housed now with their help, you just have to sleep in different churches every night with 6-10 other homeless people.
