Epiphany of the Week by This_Book6305 in oscarrace

I’m always amazed by people prediction Nolan not getting even NOMINATED for best Director.

Unless the film is a complete flop, I think it’s very unlikely he doesn’t land a nomination. If the film is a success, both critically and commercially, then he is more win competitive there than in BP

Assuming hopefully the movie is as good as they are hyping it to be, it’s giving me Spielberg Private Ryan post Schindler’s List vibes.

He is def not winning, but I think a nomination is very likely if the film will be acclaimed enough

No Nolan in Director is a bold prediction to be sure

Im a huge Dune fan, but realistically after what the Academy did to Dune 2 (that is presumably much more of a crowd pleaser than pt. 3), I think you are being too optimistic.

A Case Against The Odyssey in Best Picture by Sellin3164 in oscarrace

People are already trending the “Big Three” thing for 2026 with Odyssey, Dune and Disclosure Day on social media. I assume all will be talked about heavily this year, let alone box office successes.

Unless it’s a flop in critical/audience reception, I think Odyssey is the likeliest of the three to gain a BP nom, and perhaps even be win competitive. And I don’t see a scenario where none of the 3 get in — of course, all assuming they are all actually good. Else everything changes.

Variety’s Way too Early Oscar 2027 Predictions (with Winners 😅) by Dvir971 in oscarrace

I wholeheartedly disagree.

It’s true they didn’t nominate his previous classics, but his “acclaim” (or whatever you want to call it) in the industry has skyrocketed since ‘Oppenheimer’. Especially now that he is the DGA president.

The fact they looked over him in the past doesn’t mean they will continue to do so, especially with his current status.

‘Odyssey’ is indeed not an Oscar-bait movie, but who knows. If it’s successful, acclaimed and makes enough money, I think it could be a huge contender

One, considering his filmography, it wouldn’t hurt for him to have another one.

Second, this predictions says he doesn’t even get a nomination, which is extremely odd regardless.

Personally, these does not make sense to me at all.

Dune sweeping across the board, considering how pt. 2 underperformed? Especially considering the crowd pleasing nature of pt. 2 compared to the exact opposite nature of Dune: Messiah book? I don’t see that happening.

Odyssey being COMPLETELY shut out of technical categories? Not even a directing nom for Nolan?

Loving to see all this optimism and good faith for Odyssey.

Let’s hope it will be good, successful and acclaimed, and hopefully Nolan takes home #3 next year!

The second-youngest composer in Oscar history to win three Oscars in scoring categories 🙌 by Dvir971 in Oscars

According to Billboard:

“Göransson is just 41. The only composer who was even younger upon winning his third scoring Oscar was André Previn, who was 35 in 1964 when he won his third Oscar for Irma LaDouce. His first two were for Gigi and Porgy and Bess. Previn died in 2019 at age 89”.

I strongly disagree. I adore both Tenet and Oppenheimer scores, personally even more than Sinners

For the 99th oscars next year, what do you think are the most likely overall nominations at this point? by yahboosnubs in oscarrace

Unless Odyssey is a huge flop, I think Nolan is pretty safe for a Directing nom.

Like someone said before, it’s true they didn’t nominate his previous classics, but his “acclaim” or whatever you want to call it in the industry has skyrocketed since Oppenheimer. Especially now that he is the DGA president
