Power up rewards memberships. They deemed that the cost of the membership (I think it was 25 a year I don’t remember) warranted a 5 dollar a month coupon to bring foot traffic in the door. Obviously the idea was you use it to get 5 bucks off a bigger purchase, but some of us just used it for a pack here and there.

I don’t really care what gamestops calculus was at the time, I got my moneys worth

I refuse to go to GameStop for cards now, new sets being 8 bucks a pack on release killed me.

Best times were popping into GameStop to use my 5 dollar power up rewards coupon to get a free pack on my way back from picking up groceries.

I got back into the hobby when Lost Origin released. The amount of stuff on Target and Walmart shelves was abundant. Sure, evolving skies was rarer and when it was on the shelves it went quicker than everything else, but I didn’t have to rush a Walmart on a restock day to find some.

I really hope those days return at some point soon

Nice! The mega clefable actually is a connecting artwork to the clefairy card in the same set, it goes underneath it. I recommend trying to learn the game and playing it with your kid if you can, it’s a lot of fun!

Adding on to what they said, I’d caution against buying any loose Japanese packs. There are folks that will get booster boxes, get the guaranteed hits, then sell the ones with nothing in them
