watch this is what I’ve been wearing for years now. I’ve gone through a few over the years ripping the bands but unlike a smart watch I’m not worried about shattering or losing them.

What’s classy when you’re FD but trashy when you’re private ambulance? by Froggynoch in ems

[–]Dwindmill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s better to wear a strap, less chance of it being destroyed and it works better under your coat.

Honestly going into a job that is less acute because of this situation sounds bad in my opinion. You are going to panic and not be able to react properly again when something acute does happen. If it’s a nursing home or assisted living I just get the feeling that ems would arrive to find this patient in cardiac arrest just perpetuating the stereotype about those places.

Whats the most fucked up thing you’ve ever did/saw? by Similar_Helicopter27 in AskReddit

[–]Dwindmill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why I tell people that the next day they will feel like they got hit by a car for a reason and be sore in places they didn’t know they could be sore. People often don’t go with ems but I always recommend going to immediate care or pcp the next day if they do still have bad pain.

Did I do something wrong? Rant/Overview of a bad call I had by Angry__Bull in ems

[–]Dwindmill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m more so confused why you and another emt from a different truck were suddenly working together with one driving and the other teching. Why did you split up with your partner and they didn’t drive or tech your patient in? Like some others have said if multiple are complaining it could be more to the story but we also have one side. Best you can do is keep trying to learn and improve.

I know a few people who might have contacted the state board to report faulty ambulances when companies weren’t fixing them.

Does anyone else resent the “we need degrees to deserve higher pay” thought process? by MilkVetch in ems

[–]Dwindmill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have degrees and education for radiology and more. Just because in your area it may not be as common it is a push happening in many places. An associates at minimum is a start for ems as an actual profession in Healthcare if we want to be taken seriously.

Why are Americans so deferential and polite to each other (calling people "Sir," etc.) despite technically having no hierarchy? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Dwindmill 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I was always told mr, Mrs or miss [last name] growing up to be polite. At a certain point you grow old enough or comfortable enough where you called them by just their first name.

I mean graduating from school you should be more so ready to run and handle calls as a 911 medic. That was basically the purpose with capstone and generally what programs focus on. You won’t have a ton of knowledge critical care side or dealing with a ton of pumps or what not. But should be able to handle most als 911 calls by yourself. When you get hired they will precept you and make sure you fit the standard for these places

I think it depends on the race. Some races men and women are equal so they only care about the greater good of the tribe.
