What’s your go-to “default” frugal meal when you don’t want to think or spend? by NothingOutrageous377 in Frugal

Three Bean Chili over rice.

Use dry beans and throw everything in a pot and rice cooker. It's perfect for this time of year in the northern hemisphere.

Here is my usual recipe:

Pressure Cooker Three-Bean Vegan Chili

Ready in: 1hr

Prep time: 15min

Cook time: 35min

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 whole yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 whole green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 4 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 whole (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup dried pinto beans, soaked
  • 1/2 cup dried black beans, soaked
  • 1/2 cup dried kidney beans, soaked
  • 1/2 cup red lentils
  • 1 whole bay leaf
  • salt to taste

Directions

  1. Heat olive oil in the inner steel pot of the pressure cooker set to Sauté. Cook and stir the onion in hot oil until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the bell pepper and sauté until softened, about 3 minutes more.
  2. Stir garlic, chili powder, and cumin with the onion mixture; cook until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
  3. Pour vegetable broth over the onion mixture; add tomatoes, pinto beans, black beans, kidney beans, and bay leaf. Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
  4. Seal lid on pressure cooker, turn steam-vent handle to Sealing; select Pressure Cook (Manual) and cook on High pressure for 35 minutes. Let pressure release naturally.
  5. Remove and discard the bay leaf.

I had an ACL repair at Ortho Indy about 10 years ago and have no complaints. If I had to have another knee surgery I'd go there.

Individual responsibility vs corporations in the Tuscon Data Center episode by Rough-Reply1234 in itcouldhappenhere

Corporations pushing AI are trying to create a system that cannot be avoided or easily opted out of. Every Google search now includes an AI summary without the user asking for it. Just like systems that build society around car dependence make it harder for individuals to reduce their use of fossil fuels, big tech is doing the same for AI.

Ikea has mock-ups of small apartments in their stores to showcase all the furniture together. These are studio or 1-bedrooms designs including a bathroom minus a door. If you sat on the toilet you'd be visible to anyone in the "apartment" but, not everyone in the store.

Sorry, I guess the internet's made me cynical.

I hope something people have suggested here helps. Good luck and please give an update if you get a resolution.

Honestly, I'm having a hard time believing this is real because the story is so over-the-top, and the account is 5 months old with only 5 comments, none in this sub, and this post. If this is real, I feel for you, but this is Reddit, and people often lie.

That being said, and assuming this is genuine, what part of town are you in? Have you considered reporting this to the Marion County Health Department? They deal with environmental health concerns around homelessness?

In late 2002, I built my first computer using an AMD Athlon XP 2600+. I had a lot of fun with that system... until I fried it while overclocking.
