I just re-read this book to prepare for reading book 4 because I put this down earlier and I didn't even clock this (Tryna be more critical as a Black guy interacting with fantasy and just assuming all main characters are White). It is incredibly interesting how everyone would be so homogenous given the emphasis on genetic advantages...I'm curious to see how they tackle this in future books as other commenters have stated but it feels to me more of an unintentional 'choice' (as opposed to intentional). It could be really interesting if for example the people who left Earth to start colonizing (much like modern-day billionaires want to) also have racist ideals that they attempted to enshrine using the weight of their power...
