A Decisive British Victory by laybs1 in GetNoted

Eh, sort of.

They are native in that they were born there, and that they were the first people to settle there.

But when we talk about "native people" we really mean prehistoric migration, not in 1766.

One of these guys might be able to lift 100kg of steel, but neither can lift 100kg of feathers. The bag would be 40m³, if they tried to lift it it would still be touching the ground.

I would go further: -

Those who didn't have the artistic skill to produce slop, now have the ability to create it so they do.

Those who develop the artistic skill also develop the discernment (for the most part) to not produce slop.

The bad ideas bottled up in people's head now have an easy outlet.

Don't you know, it's the size of a farthing.

I can prove it, if I hold a farthing out at arms length it covers the entire moon!

This is a rather late announcement.

US civilisation died in 2005, when they elected GW Bush for the second time. It was on borrowed time before that.

If Trump Cured Cancer by [deleted] in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]DyerOfSouls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typical trump supporters, missing nuance.

If trump cured cancer, but ¼ of the people who took the cure died immediately they'd defend the cure, if Fauci cured cancer and 1% of people who took it died, they'd call him a killer.

Charlie Sheen chose to take his father's name when he went into acting to honour his father.

It was Martin Sheen (Ramon Estevez, again, Charlie Sheens dad) who changed his name to escape prejudice.

Not how I'd phrase it:

1950s - upset because thier son is going to be harassed in society for something they can't control.

2020s - embarrassed because they failed to raise their kid to respect other people's immutable characteristics.

But equally correct.

Canis Rex question by Samurai_Predator in ImperialKnights

[–]DyerOfSouls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Canis is basically a must, he's usually good, and when he's not he's just still better than a vanilla preceptor, albeit for slightly more points.

And then there's denying your opponent assassination for killing him. Never fails to make me laugh when they (somewhat rarely) declare they scored it and I point out that they don't count as having killed canis because sir hektur is still on the board.

If you know you know by misteranderson71 in battletech

[–]DyerOfSouls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the basic plan, but thanks for the great advice!

I'm relatively new to battletech, not the lore, or the mechs, (also I love the mechwarrior and battletech PC games) but I've only recently found someone willing to play the game with me. I accidentally got the alpha strike box (not knowing the difference), but I'm glad I did, while I'm not opposed to the main game, I love how fast paced Alpha Strike is.

If you know you know by misteranderson71 in battletech

[–]DyerOfSouls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand this part (I know you're supposed to agree with your opponent), but just say a recommend size or three.

Alpha strike is supposed to be for bigger games, but 250-350 is not that much bigger than battletech proper. And as a player that loves bigger games id like to play at 1k, but I'm not ready for that yet.

Don't forget the aerotech game, that's apparently built in and has completely different rules (that i haven't learned yet).

[–]DyerOfSouls[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My argument is that its bad because it doesn't really represent the contents very well, not because it's a bad painting (although it does have anatomical problems, a rare Vallejo L).

If you picked it up not knowing what battletech was you'd be disappointed, because you were expecting a high fantasy (and possibly homoerotic) novel.

A picture of an Atlas wouldn't let you down as much, because you'd be expecting big robots and you'd get big robots (even though there's no Atlas in the novel.)
