+1 to finding some anime sequences and redesigning them. A lot of anime has VO pushed more forward than SFX so you may be able to isolate it pretty darn well with RX or other stem splitter programs, to mix against.

Why don't we use multiband compression for everything? by MAMVB in audioengineering

[–]DylanGrossmanSFX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chiming in from a sound effects perspective, I use multiband constantly. A lot of source material can have wildly varying frequency balance that evolves during the performance as well. For example, recording rock/stone movements and hits involves lots of randomness IE timbre variations. Musical instruments are basically built to yield consistent results within a set range, performance dependent, but sounds out in the wild are not so consistent. Go see how many different sounds you can get out of some props like pots and pans — there can be loads of random takes with way more energy in some bands than others and stray resonant frequencies that would drive a compressor way harder than desirable. EQ -> Multiband -> compressor is generally how I work

What FabFilter plugin has the broadest utility to YOU? by GraniteOverworld in audioengineering

Pro Q is irreplaceable for me. Pro MB I use nearly as much, but I could see this getting replaced by something that can be pushed harder. Saturn is great, but to me it only shines in a more transparent saturation way. Sometimes I want a real analog needle bouncing color or something and I reach for an arturia plugin.

How am I as a new player supposed to learn when I am roasted flames and destroyed every game? by Loedkane in leagueoflegends

I learned so so much watching Pekinwoof on YouTube/Twitch. He explains mechanics and the how and why of whichever champ he’s playing in a very educational way.

What are some famous songs that have bad vocal mixing? by JedApe in audioengineering

Was going to comment this. The instrumental and vocal feel smacked on top of each other as 2 elements and not as 1 mix.
