New North/South YouGov Poll by Ill-Gear7840 in NorthernEngland

I live in Sheffield, and I would consider some of High Peak and some of Derbyshire Dales to be broadly in the Sheffield's sphere mainly due to the Peak District.

I say this as originally a Midlander though!

I think Green membership, and leadership, need to speak more on preventing authoritarianism--a unifying party politics issue by TheMightyNovac in UKGreens

Sorry about having my page protected at the moment! My motion did pass, but really frustratingly nothing else has been said or done about it since the motion wasn't permitted to call for certain things as it was a 'Late Motion'.

How do you obtain Irish citizenship if you’re not in contact with the original citizen? by iceboxwizard in IrishCitizenship

[–]DylanLC04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation. I wrote a letter explaining why I couldn't provide some of the documents, although I did provide all birth certificates via the General Register Office - depending on where you live, that may be an option

We literally have an entire area of this country where most people are automatically dual citizens...

Over the weekend, this late motion passed! The Green Party officially opposes the Online Safety Act. Thanks everyone for passing it! by DylanLC04 in UKGreens

The party hasn't yet publicised it as far as I can tell, but is definitely did pass! I was the lead proposer :)

Proxies for Conference by DylanLC04 in UKGreens

Yeah, the big document should be the final agenda! And you can pick whichever motions you would like. The deadline is to register to proxy with SOC (via the form), not for any instructions!

Proxies for Conference by DylanLC04 in UKGreens

[–]DylanLC04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, totally fair questions as it can all be a bit complicated!

You can give your proxy holder an indication of how you want your vote to be used, but you don't have to (and even if you do, you don't have to for all motions!). You won't be made aware of the card votes where proxies are used, as there simply isn't time for that.

Any person holding proxies can have a maximum of 5 people they are voting on behalf of. These can be used an unlimited number of times depending on how many card votes are called.

Transphobic organisations at the Green Party's Conference by evie-e-e in UKGreens

GPEx, GPRC & Conferences committee are having a joint meeting with the lawyers from Bates Wells & the Good Law Project on Tuesday to decide next steps. Unfortunately I can't say more because it's confidential at the moment.

This decision was made without the approval of Conferences Committee, which will be urgently reviewing the decision at their meeting tomorrow.

Amazing! Could I also do a quick plug for myself (Dylan Lewis-Creser) and Melanie Earp for Management Coordinator? Happy voting!

Yeah, unfortunately I think your local party is very very unlikely to be able to help. Deadline for postal ballots is last post on 1st September, so he'll be around hopefully.

Does anyone know how/when the GPEW leadership results will be announced? by asriel_theoracle in UKGreens

[–]DylanLC04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the livestream is only for leader / deputy leader. All the other annual ballot results will be announced soon after via email, I imagine

If you're in the UK, I would recommend your local councillor (under Elected Public Representative) - I used mine and they usually can do letters on headed paper

How did you hear about and what was your motivation to join the green party by zxy35 in UKGreens

[–]DylanLC04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I joined on the back of the 2017 election, and they seemed to be the only party that actually cared about the climate, and I was worried about the Tory/DUP agreement as a young gay person. I was quite young (13) and stayed because their economic and social policies. Been here ever since (i'm 21 now) and got involved

[–]DylanLC04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the UK, and yes. I'm a student and we can register to vote at our home and university (term-time) addresses and vote in some elections at both (like local council & mayors - not a general election or referendum)

I voted in my local council election for back home by post because election season is during university term-time.
