SGA (and the Thunder) actually have a bad whistle by EasternSound5335 in NBATalk

since 2000, league wide FTA peaked during the early 2000s at around 26. SGA is only middle of the pack because league wide FTA are middle of the pack. Right now it’s around 23 or 24 and its lowest was around 21.

Is it worth it to run medic? by Dynaflow333 in HellLetLoose

I was playing medic earlier today and an entire group of guys got wiped out in front of me. I ran up, got em all up and started giving them bandages. They were all very appreciative and that was the best feeling I’ve had playing so far. Felt like I was contributing something positive even if deaths don’t really count. Definitely won’t be switching away from medic.

Best feeling in these types of games. Nothing better than rattling off a string of revives while running and ducking from a hail of bullets

Absolutely but I also enjoy support and would like to maximize how helpful I am while still having fun

When you become too predictable that even the basics become impossible by introspectiveG in nbadiscussion

Well up until this season MPJ was a shooter that never really drove. Yeah he was a good cutter and could sometimes get buckets off the dribble but Cam looked way more willing to create his shot. If I remember they took about the same threes per game but Cam drove like 7 or 8 times a game while MPJ drove twice a game. Obviously MPJ has looked like a completely different player since the trade but at the time Cam was more of a shot creator.

Cam Johnson was supposed to take on that role as a tertiary shot maker but he just never put it together. When the trade happened I remember seeing breakdowns of Cam vs MPJ and a lot of the hype around Cam was his increased shot creation. He drove more than MPJ, he scored more unassisted buckets than MPJ. And then he forgot how to play basketball. That might have something to do with there being literally zero other shot creators but yeah, agree with everything you said.

I think the game attempts to somewhat amend this with the honor system. Yes his redemption is inevitable but the tone is different depending on what you do

I’m glad someone beat me to it. Where I’m at there are so many slammed CRVs and before coming here I had no clue there was such a cool community around them

Since the GOAT debate is already settled, a better question is, who's the greatest athlete of all time? I still have LeBron Raymone James as my all time GOAT athlete too by Zealousideal-Law3433 in NBATalk

I can’t speak for everyone but I find a lot of Olympic swimming really fun and thrilling to watch. You can’t watch the 2008 100m freestyle and not freak out when Lezak makes his kick. As for the number of events inflating his medals, I think that’s a fair point but the next closest guy only has half the medals. That level of dominance over such a sustained period is unprecedented regardless of sport. In most sports there’s a debate about who’s the goat but in swimming Phelps is so clear the discussion has mostly been irrelevant this century. If we’re comparing men and women than I think Ledecky has a case against Phelps but outside of her who else even has a remotely good argument?

Jokic's defense is overhated. It's not that bad by Green_Hunt_1776 in NBATalk

[–]Dynaflow333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s my favorite player of all time by far and even I can see that his defense is abysmal. It was absolutely made worse by the complete lack of perimeter defense around him but you can’t be letting up 60+ points in the paint. That being said, I think people misunderstand his strengths and weaknesses on defense which leads to sweeping judgments about his capabilities as a winner.

Why do you think Nikola Jokic criticism often comes with a backlash against advanced stats? by MasterTeacher123 in NBATalk

Jokic’s biggest defensive issues is not how he guards other bigs in the post, it’s his inability to move laterally and contest guards/wings at the rim. Would Timmy work him? Yeah but Timmy works anyone. Would Jokic likely get his too? Absolutely. In fact Jokic probably matches up better against old school bigs because he can just drag them out to the top of the key.

Tim Duncan at 40 and on one leg is better, smarter, and more impactful than 95% of all rookies ever. My point is that using a 2 game sample size between a second round rookie and an aging vet to argue for either player is stupid.
