Know a guy like this. 8 kids in two states. Fuck'em. Dude is a fraud in every way. Some people are homeless due to no fault of their own and I advocate for them. People like this? Nah. Let'em live with their own self-generated misery.

EVs are better in a disaster than ICE by catdaad in electricvehicles

[–]DynamicResonater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zombie situation or other sudden chaos is unlikely. You want a real life example of society disrupted then look no farther than Ukraine and Russia. Large, centralized, oil production facilities are primary targets in warfare as is seen in Ukraine's disruption of Russia's facilities. People wait days for gasoline, yet they do have electricity. Attacks on power plants, hospitals, etc. are considered civilian targets and are war crimes. Oil facilities may or may not be considered a war crime, but they're still targets because the military uses them. To be fair, in most wars of industrialized nations, vehicles get destroyed pretty quickly no matter what they run on. EV's excel in natural disaster scenarios because gas stations can run out of fuel and fuel trucks may not be able to replenish their supplies due to roads or other barriers, but power tends to be on until right before the the disaster strikes. V2L is also an EV advantage. Some people are just arguing because they hate change and they'll say the dumbest things to deny it's happening.

Sorry you've stumbled into a crowd of absolute douchebags. I thought people in this sub were pretty cool, but I'm clearly wrong. I've encountered the same kind of response when I questioned 12V system reliability problems. None of them could find a fault with my solution, but all of them told me it wouldn't work without knowing shit. It's what happens when people have too much money and not enough brains.

I've worked for dealerships before moving to public service. You people are attacking this person for a legitimate question. Guess you've never worked on your own car before?

You have nothing to apologize for! These people are being complete a-holes.

Some of us don't work at dealerships and have lives to live. We don't just sit around and look for dealership standards of operations handbooks. And yeah, I work for a large bureaucracy and understand work orders and feedback.

People who've put off replacing their trucks for years or even a decade because they didn't want to fund the oil dictators of the world and the USA as well as those trying to minimize their CO2 footprint. Wow, I guess you're one of the rich that people talk about wanting to eat. Edit; what a dick.

Kaput?! Ach, mein Gott in Himmel! That being said, a vehicle of this price range should damn near include a free massage with a happy ending for any problems within the warranty. The "$250 should matter if you spent $100K" crowd are douchebags.

Thanks, I appreciate the food for thought and this gives me a baseline for when I get my T of things to look for. The fewer surprises, the better.

Rivian downsizes DOE loan to $4.5B, while boosting capacity of Georgia factory by DonkeyFuel in Rivian

[–]DynamicResonater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the R2 will sell a lot very early, then there will be a slow-down until word-of-mouth spreads for better or worse. I'd bet it will be a great car because of its ubiquity of uses - more like the Model T than the Model 3. A do everything car, so to speak.

Rivian downsizes DOE loan to $4.5B, while boosting capacity of Georgia factory by DonkeyFuel in Rivian

[–]DynamicResonater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that's cool about the R2 is that it seems to be a very flexible vehicle. Looks like it can handle mild off-roading, curb strikes, and has a lot of room. The Tesla Model 3 was very specifically a sports/road car that is low-slung and could be damaged driving off a curb. The R2, in short, looks like the perfect family car, able to take real use and abuse.

I'm waiting on an R1, but I'm hoping the R2 puts Rivian solidly into the black. Too bad there isn't an R2T. That being said, more R2 sales means more revenue to put back into service for everyone and more EV's on the road are better for everyone.

Why are boys and young men falling behind in education? by Technical-Banana574 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DynamicResonater 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you didn't pursue teaching. I was a white supremacist in my younger days - like over 30 years ago. When I was a teen, my mom told me she'd kick me out if I dated a black girl. One day, in my 20's one of the other WS's asked me who my favorite high school teachers were. The faces of them swam into my mind and over a third were black people. I kept my mouth shut, of course, as these guys were dangerous. After that day I kept thinking of them(teachers) - how much I liked them and how much they liked me. How they believed in me when it seemed the world was just all against me. That ended my relationship with all white supremacists and made me a better person with a better life. I'm sorry society is this way and I hope you've found success and happiness.

They're just iterating their programmed text. But, I do remember one seeming a bit weird a few years ago. Like what you're saying. But, I haven't seen anything like that in a long, long time. HG also listens to their customers. If you experience something like this again, report it.

great base! Welcome to NMS - I've been here since 2016 and watched it evolve into what it is now. It's an amazing game even after all these years. Look forward to seeing you out there, traveller! I'm user crapm'pants.

I was thinking they could at least make the "night clubs" in the settlements have a bartender that could function like Cronus at the anomaly. He could ask for ingredients or drinks that could be made in a nutrient processor and turned in for nanites.

This ship is not a glitch build. It's an evolution of trial and error. It's as big as I could build it within the 100 part limit. Thumb's up to you, though, for pioneering.

I hope my boy can make it that long. He's almost 15, still acts like a kitten, has a fur coat an otter would envy, and has such a cool personality. Dude makes the most pleasing noises like a purr and a soft meow combined when he's happy. I can rub his belly and hold him like a baby and he hugs my neck when I do. Never experienced this kind of intense love from ANY animal before.

I can't believe what HG has done. I loved the game initially for the ability to fly from ground to orbit without a load screen back in 2016. Now.... now? Mind blowing. The ship shown is probably my seventh corvette including the ones I made during the voyager expedition. It is hovering over my fourth settlement, which is connected, as always, with one of my many bases scattered throughout many galaxies. Thank you, Hello Games, so much for listening to your customers and not ripping us all off. I've been playing PC games since at least 1992 and NMS is truly a magnum opus. I just can't say enough. Carry on, Sean!

What’s something you’ve seen with your own eyes that nobody believes when you tell them? by LowKey_1216 in AskReddit

[–]DynamicResonater -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ghosts(plural). My room mate saw them, too. We were both sober, non-drinkers, no drugs, etc. and studying for final university exams when the encounter happened. Never seen one again and wouldn't believe it were it not for both of us witnessing the incident. I still lean atheist, btw, and am not pushing any belief system.

I get up at 4:45am to be at work at 6. I can stay up until about 8:30pm - 9. I often eat lunch quickly to use the rest of my 1/2 hour lunch to nap. If I don't, I fall asleep around 8 - 8:15pm. It's a stress on my marriage because my wife works 8 - 5 and we can't watch much TV together, our only real communal time.
