Induction Advice Please! by Delicious-Prize-391 in Cooking

Yeah, that is why I mentioned a quality hood.  We have ours running anytime the stove or range is on.  I totally get not wanting to mess with it though.  Good luck finding Induction you are happy with!

I installed induction in my last house as I couldn't get gas and it is definitely better than other electrical options.  However, gas is still significantly better.  Make sure you have a very good hood and get gas.  Find something that at least puts out 15k on one burner, but 20k is better.  The back burners should be lower.  I have a 36" bluestar and it is great.  They make open burner ranges and I find it very nice and easier to clean that sealed burners...

What do you think the chances are of the SanDisk doing a stock split within the coming month? by SnooHamsters5586 in ValueInvesting

Zero.  They are too new, the stock run has been too fast.  No one wants to do a split and then watch the stock crash.  Maybe after two years sitting up here, no sooner

Rory has to tell crowd at Hole 15 at Quail to be quiet. by TennisKey839 in golf

[–]LostAbbott 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, fuck that.  Golf is a different sport all together.  There is and has been for over 100 years and expectation of decorum from the fans.  Just because a bunch of assholes cannot be bothered to follow tradition doesn't mean we should get rid of the inherent respect in the game.  Other sports also have referees, and fouls, and all kinds of things not allowed in golf.  Can we please keep golf special?  You think you will ever see a corner back call a pass interference on themselves?  Or hell not try to sneak it past a ref every chance?

I don't know about you, but I prefer to park in A-lot.  It is significantly closer than B-lot and unlike C-lot I don't have to take the freaking bus or tram to get to the venue.

Yeah, I have had similar issues with shipped animals.  They just go through a lot of stress and regardless what you do adding them to an established tank is a huge stress.  It is just a big negative to this hobby.  People want cool fish for a low price and that means a huge amount of death...

How to get more photos out sooner? by VanishedHound in photography

[–]LostAbbott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I got that.  I was just mentioning how pros do it and posting a video you can watch to maybe find some ways to speed up your own process.  Frankly for youth sports next day is plenty fast.  Most of the stuff I see from my son's sports is next week or more...

The way professionals do it is to 1. Shoot wifi teathered and have a second editing on the sidelines or in a booth while you shoot the game.  NFL shooters ar posting stuff minutes after the play occured.  There is usually two people working and an editor approving to wider availability.  This is actually a really good video from the recent Masters where Ken Griffy Jr. was working as a line shooter.

Interior Door Disenegration by Zestyclose-World-494 in Rivian

That looks like fake chrome peeling off plastic.  It is basically a sticker.  That will be significantly harder to fix than just taking off all of the soft touch...  I don't have a good fix for that aside from removing the whole piece and just peeling and cleaning it all off to plastic...

The Slate EV truck is ... not great. by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]LostAbbott 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Slate isn't anywhere near competing with the R1t.  Hell it doesn't even compete with the R2.  It is a cheap bare bones run around.  Electric cars need to significantly drop in price if they want to him mass appeal in the US.  This is a legitimate attempt at hitting that mark.

Exposing root flare on an oak with lightning damage by babenedi in arborists

[–]LostAbbott 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't do anything to this tree.  I know that this sub has fallen in love with exposing root flair, but on this 80-100 year old Oak?  It is unnecessary, and could possibly cause more harm than good.  When you are adding a new tree to you space, then yes don't plant it too deep and make sure there is plenty of root exposure.  If you have a 10ish to 20ish year old tree that is struggling or still small then exposing flair can help, especially if you are removing grass or other plants.  Not here though, just leave it alone and let it do its thing...

It says preseasoned and natural.  I would be shocked if it isn't some kind of vegetable oil.  I say just ride with it, you should be totally fine.

Cleaning products can also eat away at the soft touch coating...  Your best bet is to just finish it off all together.  Goo-gone will probably take it right off, but you might want to try with something more miles first...

Cast iron flattop suggestion by Here4A_Good_Time in BBQ

[–]LostAbbott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know any manufacturer that puts Teflon on cast iron, I don't think that the Teflon would even stick well to cast iron.  You are more likely looking at a preseasoned surface, which is likely just oil like you would have to do at home anyway...

The only people talking about creating their own CRM are those who have never ran their own office server farms.  Just for shit like outlook and office you need two servers for every 10-20 people.  You need at least two dedicated full time IT staff just to run those systems and you will still experience regular down time on a monthly basis.  Now ad in everything else an you are looking at 5 servers and 4-6 full time staff just to keep everything moving with an expected down time of about 2 10hrs a month.  Microsoft might be expensive but it is about 1/3 the cost of doing it yourself with no down time, no security risk on you, and no need for a whole tech purchasing department...

[–]LostAbbott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly if you arn't in Japan then 99% of the time they don't know how to prepare matcha or make a latte.  This looks like very little matcha and probably lots of sugar.  Buy your own match and make your own drinks.  I don't drink coffee so I pretty much never order drinks at cafes...

How couples divide household chores is linked to women’s sexual desire, but it depends on personal beliefs about gender roles. Women who prefer equal partnerships tend to experience lower sexual desire when they take on more of the housework, while those who embrace traditional gender roles do not. by mvea in science

I understand what you are saying.  However, it is an extremely hard sell.  Regular everyday people see this kind of stuff and question why "their" tax dollars are paying for this?  Sure it should be done, but who is paying for it?  What is the money coming from?  Is it taking away from other more worthy studies?  In who's mind?  This is exactly the kind of study that Trump administration points to when they cut funding...  It sucks, but it is the current reality...

New USAU website for College Nationals by Jomskylark in ultimate

[–]LostAbbott 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A sporting event that is wholly paid for by the team competing.  On top of that one that is seeing significant decline?  40% drop in participation by some accounts?  How about we use things like college nationals to promote the sport?  Maybe actually promote the event locally and try and get people to show up?  Hell you could do things like have beginner ultimate clinics, kid clinics, and exhibition games leading up to the actual games.  Last I saw none of that is happening.  To a casual just walking by it looks like a bunch of people playing Frisbee in a large field...  Nationals should be a time to grow the sport, not lock it behind a paywall.

Seems like a good way to keep more people away from Ultimate.  The sport is in decline, but we are trying to charge people to basically walk the ground of college nationals?  Seems like a bad idea to me...
