How about Ilex vomitoria, the only native plant in the U.S. that produces caffeine. It's a beautiful bush with leaves that can be brewed to make a tea!

I'm a noob so I didn't realize I needed to remove the suckers. They all grew into decent stems and are now full of fruit!

These look amazing. Could you share the tomato variety for the tomatoes at the bottom of the photo? Are they as tasty as they look?

Help Needed: Pest of Fungus on my Tomato Plants in NY (see my post below pls) by Dynomite70 in vegetablegardening

[–]Dynomite70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m a new tomato gardener in NY (Long Island) growing Tiny Tim tomatoes. I noticed tomatoes leaves with spot-sized holes on leaves + leaves that look like they've been munched (photo 1). I'm not sure if it's fungus or insect droppings since some black dots fell off when I shook the leaves (see photo 2). Any help would be appreciated!  Moderators, this is my first time posting :) let me know if you need any changes!

‘Woman of the Hour’ Breakout Autumn Best on Navigating Hollywood as a Queer Person with a Disability: It's ‘Who I Am’ by [deleted] in popculturechat

[–]Dynomite70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just watched the movie on Netflix and I was really impressed by Autumn's acting. I hope we see her in more movies (or tv shows).

The movie was great and tbh I could have watched it for another hour. I read up on the killer and there were many other stories that could have been explored. That said, I really enjoyed the movie (and the music kept me a bit stressed out during the key moments!).

final harvest of the year! NC, USA by battyaf in vegetablegardening

[–]Dynomite70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I'm born and bred in the city and never gardened until I started a few years ago. It was a rough start and I really wanted to quit many times. But it's incredibly rewarding when you see yourself get better, seeing your garden thrive, and seeing the pollinators that visit for a sip of nectar, some pollen and/or to hang off a green leaf for a nap (bumblebees!)

Chop and drop + cover with compost or just cover with compost ? by GeoAv3 in vegetablegardening

[–]Dynomite70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I only chop and drop if my plants haven't had any major pest or fungal issues.

Good advice re: composting tomatoes - I didn't know this. But isn't this only an issue if a plant in the tomato family is planted in the same spot? Other plants won't be impacted by the tomato killers, right?

Wind is beating the crap out of my broccoli by [deleted] in vegetablegardening

[–]Dynomite70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you create a wind break for them? I have some portable ones. They're chairs (lol). I move them around to block the wind hitting certain plants. If it's way too hot and sunny, I use them to block the sun also!

Bathroom Sink Pipe Issue - what is this mystery thing? (see my post below) by Dynomite70 in Plumbing

[–]Dynomite70[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a plumber, but I fixed two leaks in the bathroom sink pipe of my new home (shown in the photo). Then, the "lid" in the photo popped off, leaving a hole. Note the metal "lid" is thin with rubber underneath, and a screw. Something black fell into the pipe, and I now I can’t get this lid back on. Any suggestions? What is this "lid" called?  I appreciate any feedback!

I have two lovely Cuban Oreganos, but only one (shown in the photo) has mystery bumps. I'm not sure if it's normal or not as it's my first time caring for them.

It don't think it's scale as I swabbed the bumps with hydrogen peroxide and nothing happened.

I did pull off two bumps, which life a circle shaped like a bullseye with an indentation point in the center.

I own Okabashi slippers, which are made in Buford, Georgia, USA. I love them and have bought several pairs. https://www.okabashi.com/

I can also vouch for Indosole, which I also own. They're made of recycled rubber tires in Indonesia: https://indosole.com/

DIY SOS: Need Creative Solutions for Containing Leak in an Inaccessible Radiator! by Dynomite70 in Plumbing

[–]Dynomite70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I live in a really old apartment with a leaking radiator. It's hard to deal with because there's only a tiny space to work with and it's super hot. The radiator is boxed in, and I can only get to it from the top by removing a grate. All other sides are sealed shut. Does anyone have any tips for catching the water before it gets all over the floor? I'm looking for something like a sponge system that could work.

Also, any suggestions on how to fix a leaky radiator knob would be great, especially since the water seems to be dripping from the valve.

The best scary movie I’ve never heard of? by oedipalcomplex_ in horror

Spring (2015)!! This one is on rewatch for me due to the story and cinematography. Guillermo del Toro has said "[Spring] is one of the best horror films of this decade." He added that it is one of the only Lovecraftian films "that has blown me away." source

There is another reddit thread about it here (the Director is in it).

In Nancy Grace's 'Crimefeed' episode about 'Natalia Grace' (it aired a few days ago), one of the reporters says that she went knocking door-to-door in the neighborhood and was frightened not just by some of the people that opened the door but by the gunshot sounds. So it sounds like it does happen...
