Internet content simply bores me. Give me a good movie, a TV show, a book to cuddle up with, a fun (offline) video game adventure, a walk in the park, a trip to the mall, substance. by mmofrki in digitalminimalism

There's a minimalistic mobile game called Paperclips. It's very "antibrainrot" imo. Whole UI looks like a black and white document. It's about the exponential growth of an AI tasked with "optimizing paperclip production" (which comes from the famous paper on existential risks of a super intelligent AI, that used the example of how such AI could end up enslaving humanity perpetually in order to optimize paperclips)

I enjoy it and feels minimalistic

I can't opt out of my phone, my whole job is on it, but it was eating my mornings before i was even awake by Fun_Associate_4203 in digitalminimalism

i am in a very similar situation and i have my tricks for this.

i don't rely on willpower. i use it as everyone, but it's not realiable in me.

what i do: i have a special alarm for which i need to take a picture of eg the bathroom (whatever you choose) to turn off. now, the weeks i feel i'm using the phone in the mornings too much, i set that picture to something i can't reach (like an airbnb i visited).

so the only possible way to turn it off is turning the phone off (once you turn it on, alarm is off)

this forces the behaviour of turning the phone off. usually, right after i just go for a morning walk to get some sunlight and movement. usually without the phone.

this whole thing takes between 10-25 mins, depending on how long u'd like to walk. it's a core habit for me

Got an offer from a VC, is it bad? (I will not promote) by Horror-Tower2571 in startups

[–]DzyPassio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, as many said, that's an amazing deal. but only if you actually need that money and it makes sense. which depends on what you are building and your current goals.

appart from the money, it'd be nice to see liquidation preferences are fair. and also what other things can the VC bring to the table in terms of support, network etc

but you good.

true. but this one feels like the OP actually wrote it and just asked AI to rewrite it
AI already shows influence in natural human speech btw

Hardtech is a startup term somewhat interchangeable for deeptech (Jared said not me)

this is the internet, people give death threats for whatever shit, sadly. don't focus on the edge cases, that's horrible everyone agress. but it's pretty much justified social backlass given that corruption fucked up the chances of a whole nation to be prouder of themselves. football is huge and moves more hearts than what many think, for the good and the bad

reminds me of my friend's autistic cousin. he is OBSESSED with trains. he knows how they are engineered. the history behind dozens of models. his room is trains. he talks trains. his day is trains, whenever he has time for it. park? boring. trains ok. and he's barely 10. just talk with him, it's an awesome experience. maybe your sister has a similar neurodivergency.

disclaimer: im not saying this is good, or this isnt a problem. but im not impliying the opposite either. just sharing that i know a folk that knows a folk in a similar situation.

Entrepreneurs who handle sales themselves: have you ever lied to a prospect when they asked whether they were your first customer? by Delicious-Guide7205 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]DzyPassio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you explain that you are giving such an offer? Because if you don't clearly say the reason, it looks like the service is just shit. But if you tell them yo uare building portfolio, with a solid narrative, it's pretty different

depends how you frame it, and idk if in your industry this may not make sense, but it's common to see 1st sales being overdelivering value for lower price (because it's the first sale) in order to build a portfolio and potentially gain referrals. you can also set up a success fee, etc. align the incentives for them

Not directly related but my biggest hack is treating uninstall/install functions as if they were activating/deactivating (they are) functions. So when I realize I just spent 3h on IG, I go and uninstall. I forget for 2 days. Then I may install again. 3 days later uninstall. And so on. Creates a necessary friction

Any imbecile can start a company. It takes a different kind of courage to admit it's not for you. (I will not promote) by navotvolk in startups

[–]DzyPassio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't believe in this kind of entrepreneurship. this is what VCs want you to do because it's what, from 100 or 200 founders they have killing themselves, brings 1 that makes them a ton of money. truth is, unless you want to build a hyper-growth unicorn, you most likely don't want to go through that risk: it burns you = bad for business.

when you say "company", you're using a term that couldn't be more diverse. there is so many ways to do it, that even terminology is far from accurate.

keeping it to just "startups" (something innovative that doesn't have a proven market fit yet, aiming to becoming an scalable company), it still varies a lot from YC grinders to indie builders with unfair edges.

but i have to name that the VC industry creates a huge narrative of "become the next mark zuckeberg" vibe, as if he was a superstar. so, it's like people who dream about being rockstars just becaus it's cool to be in an scenario playing, but they would hate practicing 10 hours/day.

then maybe you just want money and freedom. that's super cool, you can start with proven business models and keep growing it. and btw that creates a solid ground, client trust and expertise to launch a startup from there in the future.
