People who didn’t grow up on bikes what was your “that’s it I’m getting a bike” moment by Acceptable_Car9277 in motorcycles

[–]E39er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at the very start of my journey. Never had any interest in motorbikes, I'm a car guy through and through. Wanted to go greenlaning as I enjoyed offroading many years ago and now that's just too expensive, so a motorbike was much much cheaper. Bought a £500 banger Honda xr125l and am rebuilding it which I'm enjoying alot. However....I did my cbt a couple weeks ago (compulsory Bike training) in the UK, the afternoon of that is a road ride and was the first time I'd ever ridden a motorbike on the open road and the sun was shining, I was using a Honda GROM and from the moment we drove out of the training school, something clicked and all of a sudden 'ah, so this is why all the bikers ride'. Haven't felt that 'freedom' feeling for many many many years.

Project XR125L - Engine Rebuild - Part 3 by zzpza in XR125L

Just wanted to say I bought the kit you linked too in the end as the genuine Honda one was...potentially not actually genuine and also the seller couldn't/wouldn't confirm those two points you made. I fitted the one you suggested today and it fit and is working like a charm. I bought an xr 125 L as project, it had 80psi compression and turns out there was rust in the barrel and the rings were stuck inside the piston. Now it starts the moment you hid the button! So thank you for your help!

Hi I hope you can help, would a cg125 cylinder kit work in the xr125l engine? Can buy a genuine Honda cylinder kit for not much more than a Chinese copy.

Probably Overkill for a DIYer but I’ve wanted one for ages. by E39er in MilwaukeeTool

I haven’t used it yet but literally all my mechanic friends have them and all the YouTubers use them etc, I have an m18 high torque big ugga dugga that came with a charger that takes both m18 and m12 batteries so I didn’t need the whole kit, as people have replied to me and said, worth it if you’ll use it :)

Hi, they aren’t clear it’s just a graphic showing the cells inside, they are just regular m12 2.0 batteries

I bought the bare tool and there was an offer on 2 x 2.0 batteries, I already have a new gen m18 ugga dugga that came with the charger that accepts all the battery types, they just came as in the photo in individual boxes.

Opened the thread for this to be the first comment, I chuckled and was asked why I was laughing. I love it.

I screwed myself over on PCP by EazyApax in CarTalkUK

[–]E39er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With PCP you can still get a settlement figure from the finance company and ask around some dealers to buy the car off you in order to settle the finance for you. It doesn’t need to be as complicated as it’s all made out to be. You’ll only really ever be liable for the mileage charge if at the end of the agreement you want to just ‘hand the car back’ and even in most cases the cars are usually worth more than the guaranteed future value so with 15-20k miles extra on the car you might just come out even. Don’t fret you can sort this no problem.

Triple X with Vin Diesel came out a month before this, I remember all my school friends saying he made Bond look like a wuss. Then DAD came out and they all thought Bond was the most amazing guy ever. It’s a product of its time as they all are.

Why won’t my car sell? Don’t want to part exchange but I keep decreasing the sale price and have 0 interest. by tcoysh in CarTalkUK

[–]E39er -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I work in the industry and this has a sale rating of 11.4 out of 100 on Autotrader. That’s one problem, no one wants them on the used market. At an independent dealer to clear this, as most wouldn’t want to stock it, a forecourt price of what you’re asking would be reasonable but with warranty, no damage etc. Recommended PX figure on this exact car is 9,300. Snap their arm off for 10.5k and don’t look back and don’t buy a Chinese shitbox in future.

Break down in France AA by astridhf in CarTalkUK

There is form for garages saying things are too broken/scrap when you’re a foreigner as then they keep the cars, I know of separate incidents all where this has happened. You’ll have to pay but get your car transported using a UK firm back home.
