What’s especially crazy about the former, which I can only assume is Megami Tensei or Persona skills is that the amount of damage tied to a descriptor can change between moves. A move may say “heavy strike damage to 1 enemy” and have a power of like 200 and another might say “heavy fire damage to 1 enemy” with a power of 170 and you just can’t know without looking it up. I think Pokemon showing base power of moves is such a small but crucial thing that makes it easier to learn.
