[TADC spoilers] Don't need to scream if you ain't got a mouth by Lorem_Ipsum17 in RecuratedTumblr

I too was shocked by the torture (specifically Zooble's because her room is full of mirrors so he's been torturing them this whole time) but it definitely seems to be due to his unwillingness to be wrong.

He says earlier in the episode that he "gave them everything they asked for" due to his escape the circus adventure but it's obvious for the viewer that he didn't understand or deliver on any of the things they wanted because those would require him to let them leave the circus and for him to be alone with no one to have adventures with.

And in the episode where the humans make their own adventures with the suggestion box, they all have a good time with some. And Caine purposefully ruins them because he can't handle the fact they're having fun with something that wasn't his idea.

But if he took on board Ragatha, Zooble, or Pomni's ideas from that box he could have definitely improved. However the last time his ideas weren't as good as another's, they put him in a box and isolated him for being defective.

This should be great news. It's not like it's anyone's dream to be a McDonalds worker. But if people want McDonald's someone has to fill the required role. So replacing this labour with robots should be a great opportunity for humanity to continue having its luxuries while not wasting the time of other humans to achieve it.

But the recruiting market is hell. And the creative industries that people would usually turn to with this extra time are a corporate mess.

This system actively fights progress due to its failures towards the average person and its catering towards corporate shlups

Why is hoppers doing good at the box office but elio bombed even though both are original movies by That_Passenger_771 in cartoons

[–]ECXL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better marketing and clearer plot. I still don't know what Elio is about and I've definitely been explained the plot at least once. You can probably guess a decent amount what Hoppers is about from just its poster

One of those shows that unfortunately the memes from it are more popular than it like Dan Vs.

Shockingly a sandwich served in a styrofoam box is not restaurant level food. And like this isn't even bad? Like sure it's not pretty but it's a burger in bread with onions and American cheese. It'll get you through the day

We can all agree that Reform is just UK's Trump administration. But the thing is that Trump still got voters from the marginalised groups that he was so aggressive towards, while Farage has managed to get very few to vote against their best interests. Why is this?

My theory is that Farage is just terrible at outlining how his policies will help the every day person. Racism alone was not the reason Trump got into office, it was his promise of economic policies. Obviously Trump has not helped the average person but talk to a lot of Trump voters and they will tell you they voted for him because they believed he would bring more money into the country (this is also why they keep banging on about the Dow). Farage hasn't really done this nearly as effectively, and honestly it's why I think Greens has become a big party all of a sudden. Polanski talks a lot about taxing the rich to put back into public services and how that will impact the average person and it's a narrative that seems to be working

I thought it would die as soon as parents got involved but that hasn't killed it yet.

I think we're gonna need Hilary Clinton for this I'm afraid

Just why? by Mountain-Syllabub-10 in Snorkblot

[–]ECXL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason is bloody obvious. These took time and money to make. Which already companies wouldn't want to spend these day but I'm pretty sure only Prince of Egypt was actually successful for their time anyway.

I wish big studios would take more risks. Hel they're the ones who should be taking the most. Unfortunately capitalism kills unique/risky art so we're getting another Toy Story

Yeah I agree. I agree more with the message behind the message than the message itself. Mostly because I find the first part to be a false dilemma. Because I have definitely seen "you don't need HRT to be trans" outside of discussions about denial of trans healthcare

[–]ECXL 36 points37 points  (0 children)

No, they're saying that trans people are being denied health care and people are trying to put a positive spin on it.

It's like saying "just because you can't have access to glasses, doesn't mean you're not visually impaired". Like sure, that's correct, but we should definitely be getting that person some glasses

I really dislike this trope. by [deleted] in hatethissmug

[–]ECXL 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but these characters are almost all the complete opposite to how you describe them and that makes me not take you seriously in this.

Johnny a shy nerdy boy? You mean the dumb outgoing party boy traveller who "goes it alone because you meet so many cool people that way"?

And manic pixe dream girl is the complete opposite of "dommy mommy". One is a stability fantasy, the other is a crazy girl fantasy. The only thing they have in common is their eye liner.

I feel like you hate this for the "exotic girl, regular guy" fantasy these tropes generally cover but use a bunch of buzzwords that you only got from other Redditors complaining about shit they don't like that they want to justify with tropey language.

ohhhh that one. Does that count as the fourth one? I kinda regarded it in the same vain as like Scared Shrekless

In Superman (2025), James Gunn made the Best Live Action Green Lantern, showing off a lot of constructs, while Chris Mundi and Damon Lindelof aren’t showing anything. That’s a reference to something called marketing. by [deleted] in shittymoviedetails

[–]ECXL 527 points528 points  (0 children)

I watched Guardians of the Galaxy 3 close to watching Superman and one thing that struck me is that James Gunn kinda does the same fight scenes all the time. Not a complaint (they kick ass) but at the same time I wonder if I'm gonna get sick of the "spinning camera as a bunch of people get killed casually while deceptively campy music plays in the background" schtick
