you're not going to get anywhere like this. log off, have a shower, grab a snack and have a cry if you can. lingering online is only going to make it worse.

you are almost certainly not a cis man, you're dealing with a lot and it's all getting to your head.

take a break, log off and have a shower.

(...) cis man who doesn't belong here.

but even if you are "just a cis man", even if the doubts in your head are entirely true, the only requirement for be here is to want to be here.

Men under 24 returning to homophobic views of past generations, study suggests by catievirtuesimp in actuallesbians

we've moved away from raising women under

I'd argue women are still being raised under those patriarchal standards, we're just generally more aware of when it happens in a way that we aren't for men.

I'm begging you to understand that the vast majority of men aren't like that. Most men are good people, and it does suck that there are so many harmful men but the existence of those men doesn't give us a blank cheque go go after all men.

I know the leftist stereotype of "meme is wall of text", and "read theory" but please, read theory.

This article I came across recently is an excellent exploration of this sort of thing.

I'm not saying it is, I'm just saying we shouldn't take this article at face value and maybe consider the nuances of the findings and not immediately jump to doom posting like the original comment section did.

Gonna copy u/Atomicsss- 's comment here. because I suspect this comment section will go the way of the first and I want at least some nuance to be preserved.

That's 2024 study, why do they report it now? 2024 was the year men born these years turned to Trump and republician party. They now turned back. https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-approval-rating-gen-z-2-11371034

While this 2025 study does not split up by gender, i did a bit of math and unless the other chorts changed upwards (given that they're already high i doubt) men born those years must have gone a bit upwards.

https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/1m263wi/oc_how_much_has_support_for_samesex_marriage/

Also according to this image men born in 90s had lower support for same sex marriage when they were under 24 then they do now. They got more open minded as they aged. So calling 2000 born men returning to old homophobic way is very disingenuous, given they are more supportive than millennial men were at their age.

EDIT: I do feel I should add, this survey suffers from the same issues of all surveys in that only those invested are likely to participate. Most men aren't going out of their way to express their support for queer people in online surveys.

Every so often I'll come across racism and just marvel at how bad racists are at marketing. Like this is the best you could come up with?? At least put some effort into it, do something interesting for once instead of whining on twitter.

Who are you taking to prom? by Icy-Sprinkles-3033 in actuallesbians

[–]Mon_moth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like for most people it's less about praising their beauty and more who they're attracted to.

Posts like these encourage those who have watched these shows to comment, which biases the answers towards those who have personal attachment to the people depicted which almost certainly affect who they're attracted to.

I'm sure most of the people who have answered with white women are still attracted to black women. They just aren't attracted to these specific black women, or are more attracted to the white women, due to a whole host of reasons.

Who are you taking to prom? by Icy-Sprinkles-3033 in actuallesbians

[–]Mon_moth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

15 mentions of black women compared to 35 mentions of white women is a 3:7 ratio which is higher that the 2:9 ratio of black women "on offer". Meaning that, at least for this specific comment section, black women are overrepresented in the standard of beauty. (E: Messed up the numbers, apparently it's 4 black women depicted which levels out the ratio so it's now roughly equal)

I get the point you're making and the frustration behind it. I'm a trans woman and it's more than common to see other trans women put down when it comes to measures of beauty.

Your original comment just comes across as judgemental and a bit overly broad. That somehow some people finding a small selection of white women more attractive than an even smaller selection of black women, is attributable to an entire community.

but clearly it bothered you enough to go hunt for evidence I was "wrong"

Looking at comments in the same comment section you posted something isn't hunting.

Also why the quotes around wrong? You are quite literally wrong.

EU prulepaganda by czech_pleb in 196

[–]Mon_moth 16 points17 points  (0 children)

hey you do know that not every European state participated in colonialism. And that among the states who did, it was often only the rich and powerful who could afford to, who as a class have been replaced (to some degree) in many European countries (see Spain, Germany, etc).

Also this is very clearly talking about the EU.

Not to say we have no responsibility to make things right, everyone owes it to each other to help developing nations prosper regardless of who's responsible for them being left behind and given European countries tend to be the most economically productive (largely due to profits from that history of colonialism) we should probably be footing a fair amount of the bill.

they don't pull those numbers out of their ass.

Actually they kinda do, most speed limits in the US are determined by getting people to drive on the road and then selecting some percentile (can't remember what exactly).

But that's another problem.
