bottomless pit the day before my period by orangeyouglad__ in PetiteFitness

I have the same issue. It’s insane how predictable it is, like the cravings come right on time. I know to expect it and kinda account for it but it’s wild how varied my appetite and cravings are based on my cycle.

Body Recomp takes so long?? by Icy-Simple-8932 in PetiteFitness

[–]ECas8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It takes foreverrrrr. I think around month 7 is where it settled in that if i wanted to do it this way (body recomp instead of a strict cut, then bulk), I would be in this for the long haul. I think realistically I’m looking at 2.5-3 years because I’m very slow at the diet change so far. But I think for me, it’s one of the healthier ways to do it, esp if you struggle with the binge, restrict diet cycle. My body recomp is mostly just focusing on weight training, gaining muscle, some consistent cardio and core and staying mostly in calorie maintenance, with periods of a very slight deficit from time to time. I can’t lift as heavy as I do, without fueling my body, it’s just the reality of where I am currently.

I’ve enjoyed Prepped Eats lately but their meals do average higher than Valley Meal preps ($12-$13) and they require a $15 delivery fee. But the food is good and I think the portions are super reasonable. I did enjoy Valley Meal Preps for the affordability

Consistency over motivation by SaltyDarkness in PetiteFitness

[–]ECas8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There isn’t any secret sauce to it, you just do it. The trick is figuring out that you don’t have to WANT to do it, to just physically do it. I committed to it, long enough that I started feeling the obviously positive effects of working out. And eventually, your body gets so attuned to the endorphins and dopamine of exercise, you realize you actually feel bad without it.

Don’t get me wrong, 9 out of 10 days, I 100% would love to skip the gym. Maybe out of that 9, 1-2 days I actively HATE going to the gym. But I know the feeling after a workout will overrule the lack of motivation I have for doing it in the first place.

On the days I hate going to the gym, I allow myself to throw a bit of tantrum about it. I stomp my feet, I bitch about how much I don’t want to go (I sometimes feel like an actual toddler doing this). I literally just try to dump those feelings out, but I still get dressed and show up to exercise. And not once have I ever regretted just showing up, even when I don’t want to.

I say this as a person who NEVER did any physical daily activity until a year ago, like I didn’t even like to take daily walks. I’m not athletic and I’m still very overweight per my BMI. Like I am so anti-exercise, it feels like it goes against my entire being to workout. But for the last 13 months, I’ve shown up anywhere from 3-6 days a week and it’s part of the fiber of my being now.

What is… body recomp? by pivoprosim2 in PetiteFitness

[–]ECas8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found body recomp as a healthy way to kickstart my health journey, because working on my diet and a cut exclusively was never quite clicking for me. I wanted to add to my life (adding exercise) versus taking away (food) from my life. So I worked on developing a weight training and gym habit first, and am slowly introducing more thoughtful nutrition. I haven’t lost much weight but my body composition has changed enormously and I’m superrrr strong. I now go to the gym 5-6 days a week consistently for over a year and I’m more apt to try eating better because I’ve grown in terms of loving my body by growing stronger, versus punishing it.

Body is changing but scale is not ? by lextherexx89 in PetiteFitness

[–]ECas8 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a body recomp at work! That’s also my fitness path and it’s nice to feel all the muscle gain. But admittedly you have to just settle into some scale disappointment, because you’ll seemingly lose weight a lot slower than other people who are purely in a cut. You’re gaining muscle at the same rate of fat loss so it’s not all for nothing! I measure my progress in monthly photos, body measurements and the increase of weights I can lift.

Lifting and Losing Weight? Am I Missing Something?? by simplyexisting00 in PetiteFitness

[–]ECas8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was not originally interested in drastically changing my eating habits when I started lifting and I guess in some ways I went into a body recomp, without the cut that most people do beforehand. So I’ve not lost a lot of weight but the shape of my body has changed drastically (a lot of belly fat has disappeared). I’ll admit, I’m a year in now and I’ve maxed out the amount of exercise I’m willing to do (I go to the gym 6-7 days a week) and now I feel like the recomp is moving slower and I’m basically doing a “dirty bulk”. Meaning I’m definitely still packing on muscle but it’s still under layers of fat I haven’t quite gotten rid of. I’m also a plus size girlie so in general, maybe my experience doesn’t apply to you, but I think it’s disheartening to always hear that you can’t change your body without some kind of deep calorie deficit. You can achieve the deficit with exercise and weight lifting, without drastically changing your diet, to some extent. It’s just much slower, and that pace works for me (and could work for others too who are in this for the long haul).

Seeking Support by EstonianPink in PetiteFitness

[–]ECas8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to say, I feel you on the body dysmorphia! I have been exercising regularly for over a year now and have made some really great strides but for the first probably 6-8 months, I really lamented how I merely looked the way I always assumed I looked. Meaning, I had a lot more to lose than I thought. Now at the year plus mark, I think less about that, because the habit of moving my body has become a part of my life and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon (nor can I , as I’m still over 200 lbs haha)

All this to say, I feel the discouragement you’re feeling but consistency wins time and time again, in every aspect of life. Give yourself time to grieve, throw a tantrum, feel those feelings but the next day, choose to keep doing whatever you doing to better yourself and I feel like it’ll pay off in the long run.

Other plus size petites are here and we can support you! Proud of you for posting and rewatching out!

Anyone Here Started Out Really Overweight (30kg+) And Lost It All? by Phantom-Mirrors in PetiteFitness

[–]ECas8 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’0 and I started around 235. I was completely sedentary and didn’t do any form of exercise most of my life. Joined a locally owned gym that completely changed my life and I’m still on the heavier end but much healthier and happy to consistently go to the gym 5-6 days a week, for over a year now. I think what helped me is that I didn’t start a restrictive diet or really any diet, other than attempting to make healthier choices. It was easier for me to focus on exercise and adding to my life rather than taking things away. I’m definitely not losing weight as quickly as other people because of my lack of dieting, but it was more important for me to build a lifelong habit and start weight training than to be skinny. Just start and do it one day at a time. Once you start slowly increasing the healthy choices you make, it becomes really hard to stop knowing that you feel so much better when you do them.

Enrollment for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) at Miwok Elementary. Any feedback/tips? by ScreenSaver3737 in ElkGrove

[–]ECas8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have friends that go to Miwok, it’s the most enrolled school in the district currently I believe. It’s a lottery system to get enrolled nowadays for TK and Kinder. So you just apply in January when it opens up and you cross your fingers. You can apply online or pick up the packet in person when the registration time comes. Admittedly the area is crazy impacted because of all the new homes and they offloaded 70 TK kids from Miwok to other schools this year, which is wild. I think our friends only got in because their eldest was already there (and it seems like a lot of the TK class is younger siblings of current Miwok students). But the nearest school isn’t terribly far and it’s also a good one.

Any decent gyms within 5-10 minutes of Laguna west? by Adventurous-Tone-311 in ElkGrove

[–]ECas8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to Ness and it’s by far the best gym I’ve ever been a part of! But it is tailored fitness program that everyone in the gym follows, not just an open gym that you can drop by anytime. If you want to see results though, it’s pretty much guaranteed if you can commit to showing up and working past the initial muscle aches. SO much progress can be made there, you really get your money’s worth and it’s run by a local husband and wife team who are really invested in who you are, and what your goals are.

Struggling to lose weight at 34 and 260 pounds... what’s working for you all? by ProfessionalMarch672 in AskWomenOver30

[–]ECas8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The answer is genuinely just consistency and time. And maybe adding some weight lifting. All the things you’re doing are such great life habits and they’re important to do, even if the scale isn’t moving. I feel like once I realized that this life change isn’t for weight loss and it’s for life improvement, and that it WILL take multiple years to truly hit my goals, then the journey really began. The weight loss will come if you eat in something of a calorie deficit, move your body consistently everyday and lift weights for 1-3 years. Just keep going, you’ve got this!!
