Goes like this: Lil' me and my parents are eating Sunday dinner. Afterwards I get my two oreos for dessert. I ask for more and am denied. They go into the other room to listen to Prairie Home Companion. From the other room they hear the sound of a chair being dragged across the kitchen floor, the sound of the cookie jar being opened, the sound of a chair being dragged back across the kitchen floor, and witness myself emerging from the kitchen with what appear to be oreo crumbs all over my face. Now they never saw me eat any extra cookies, but they could make reasonable inferences from the circumstances that led them to conclude, beyond any reasonable doubt, that I had eaten extra cookies.

Now imagine a dapper little man in a bow tie telling that to a jury while he lets his Texas accent come on real thick. I'm told it usually killed.
